  • Carbon Fiber tail boom

Bent may tail boom today on my Blade 400 and was looking at replament ones. I came across a carbon Fiber one ..would this be better on impact or do they tend to splinter (if that makes sense)

So should I just got the stock one or go carbon Fiber..but I only want to do this if it is less likely to bend and stay in one piece

Carbon Booms.. tend to just.. SNAP

Normal Alu Booms will bend usually, Can even bend 90 Degrees and still not snap

Ok thanks guys I thought this would be the case! I dont want to spend money on anything that isnt going to improve flight or be stronger and last longer So stock one it is and £5 for two you cant complain

Just crashed my innovator exp inverted into the ground today, usual damage main shaft, flybar, feathering shaft etc but my carbon tail boom was fine, iam sure if it wasnt carbon it would have needed replacing. Providing its not a full tail impact i find the carbon booms holds up quite well.

I guess it depends on how it falls but I will keep that in mind and maybe in the future give one a try

sorry to hear about your crash what is the cost like to fix up the innovator ?

About £30 ish, not to bad seeing as i went in to the ground fairly fast inverted. main money would be th fibre canopy but i will repair that for now. Apart from the skids these little helis are very strong and great fun.

A carbon tail boom will take a lot of weight (relatively speaking) out of the tail so might mess up your C of G making it nose heavy. I took all the carbon bling off my raptor (boom and fin set) and replaced with standard parts and the C of G is much better now.

These companies spend thousands developing parts for their helis so why mess around with what works..
