Hi guys
Well this is turning into a bit of a story..and maybe one all potential newbies should read if like me they jump in head first before really doing there homework..oh and also coz they like the buzz!!
As you will probably know I brought a 450 electric package a few weeks back as I wanted a new hobby... no background research just advice off a model shop I found on tinternet - big mistake!!
Anyway since buying found this forum and started doing some homework (already doubts were in my head on initial purchase!!) , hadnt a clue and couldnt even get the radio calibrated with the free SIM ( note.. shop wasnt too helpful with advice so wont be going back there again!!) and then went off to local club to meet some 'addicts' and check out some proper helis
..ALso forum suggested getting a proper raido (DX6i) and pheonix ..excellent call and they have both arrived today
..
Only problem is I now have 2 radios ..one crap and one ace one with only 1 heli which I dont like since seeing the large Nitros at the field on Sunday and one that I havent even flown yet..... I know I shouldnt run before I can walk but I do like to do things properly(eventually) altho I am concious of spend spend spend!!
Today I popped into Revolution models for a chat who were very helpful and full of good info and I have now made a decison to keep the 450(was so close to getting rid) to learn on and play in my back garden , sell the crap radio and order a Nitro kit to build whilst Im learning however this is not the most ideal way and will increase spend more than initally thought so moral is .... Do your homework!! oh I'll never learn but this might be useful to someone looking around..
BAsically :0
1. buy a decent radio and pheonix (remember if your thinking you might go into nitro helis then your need a minimum of 7 channels)
2. Go to your local flying club and/or heli specialist shop to discuss options ..not to buy yet!!
3. Use the knowledge on the forums, especially this one as its full of helpful peeps!
4. Enjoy
PS.. As i am now looking for a nitro kit what size 600 or 700 and which make would you all suggest?
Thanks all
Graham.
