  • Flybarless - understanding it?!

    Hi
just looking for a bit of clarification on this flybarless stuff that's going on.

As I understand it you buy the kit and this includes your new head and a 3 way gyro type setup The ultimate goal being - more power? Sexier looking head? It would appear that perhaps it is more stable in flight also?

First question (maybe a stupid one but please bear with me) does this 3 axis gyro thing do away with the need for a tail Gyro? (I'm thinking no but have to ask).

For someone looking for stable flight - say for scale or for aeiral photography, is the flybarless better.

    thanks all

some units include a tail gyro (align 3g/ v-bar/) some dont like the skookum 360. i think they are supossed to be very good for scale multi blade helis

'3 axis' which means that it includes the tail rotor gyro. I think the only FBL system that does not have a tail gyro built in is the 'sokum robotics' - or however its spelt!

FBL will keep the heli completely stationary in the 3 axis however it will not do so in 3d space, it will be pushed by the wind. Flybar heads can be setup such that they counter (ie automaticly lean into) the wind and therefore can be more stable in a hover.
In fast flight flybars have a tendency to pull up dependant on setup. However a FBL heli will counter the external forces and input more/less cyclic to keep the trajectory the same.
      Hope this helps
