You mean the way they battery pack has just been taped to each blade?

That's interesting - I use the Align Carbon 325s - the black and yellow ones. On the underside there's a strip of tape and underneath that is a series of holes. I was thinking about making my own Night blades, and using the holes to mount lots of LEDs which I'd then multi-plex using a small micro-controller so it'll spell out (prefereably) rude words as the blades span.

However, I'm limited to standard size componets and so the circuitry wouldn't be that small. If someone is taping and heat shrinking battery packs to blades, then I don't have a problem :-)

oh dear it'd only take one pack to come off for the heli to shake itself apart, not to mention at added stress on the blades themselves

The batteries in my 425 blades are OK so far, but as always with night flying there are months of gap between sessions.
If my batteries go duff I'll defo try something like this on my 600 and my 425 blades!

Its my 325 blades which looked nackered now, going to give them a couple more cycles but dont think I will have much joy.

You haveto be sure the packs wont come off. They area small single cell pack. Its near the root so with one missing it wouldn't be a complete disaster.
There is a lot of info about making your own night blades on RR and HF. They stick the single cell lipo on with double sided and then use heatshrink on top. They use dolls house wiring tape stuck onto the blades to run the power to the LEDs and some surface mount current limiting resistors. Then put a film sleeve over the whole blade (like used on wood blades) if its nitro or rely on the sticky tape if its electric.
