  • Fuel Tank Nipple

    Howdie,

I have just managed to break off the pressure nipple on my 700 fuel tank! I have replaced it with new.

Looking at the old one, it seems as if it would be possible to drill out the hole a bit larger and epoxy in a manifold fuel nipple. In theory if an air tight joint can be made, then it should work... But, thats only good if it holds whilst in flight!

Just wondering if anyone had tried it and been succesful?

To be honest, I don't think it's worth risking your £900(plus) heli for the sake of an £11 fuel tank. My first 700's tank was delivered with a broken nipple. I did make what seemed to be an airtight seal but then decided to just buy a new tank and be done with it.

He has a point. £11. Nipple, glue and constant nagging feeling of what if? pay the money.

I think he is talking about the pressure nipple....from the exhaust to the tank....

You can buy a kit aimed at planks for convertinga p[op bottle into a fuel tank. I used one to put a second clunk line into a raptor for a uniflow system. It has a clamp on nipple system and an O ring to seal.
....so you could make a repair with that

Just engines sell such a think for making up a fitting for a fuel bottle:

In the end you will have saved about the cost of half a tank fill compared to buying a new tank!

Did someone really use the words "clamp" and "nipple" in the same sentence without getting banned?
