  • Clutch liner, how to.....

    Hi,

Put a new clutch in the Raptor and when I flew it today I really had to rev the engine to get it to pick up. It eventually did but I did not like reving that high with no load so I want to replance the liner so it's all new.

    Hence the post..

Any tips or suggestion on removing and re-fitting a clutch liner to a standard Raptor 30 / 50 clutch bell ?

Do the new liners come with self adhesive or do I need to get some glue?

Is it worth the hastle, would I be better off just spending £10 on a new, standard bell with the liner already fitted ? (do they some pre fitted?)

    any input welcomed
    thanks

Martyn, its fairly straight forward to replace the liner.

once the liner is removed and any bonding agent removed, put a thin film of epoxy on the bell and place the liner in. You will need to have even pressure all round the liner which can be achieved by using the clutch shoe with one or two wraps of insulating tape. Place this into the bell and leave.

      I used 24 hour epoxy.

Also when you come to remove the clucth shoe from the bell you may need to use one of the screws to give you some leverage as they are pretty snug.

I found that the pre-glued liners in the Raptor clutch bells is not always that reliable and many people choose to redo the bonding themselves.

      hope this helps

            my thoughts also....

The only problem is the picture on the FL site shows the liner separate from the bell so I don't know if it's fitted or not.

new liner and epoxy probably £7, brand new bell with liner already fitted (maybe) £10. Will call FL in the morning to find out if it's fitted or not.
