  • Will two heli's ever fly the same ???

I see lots of people on here have two identical (same model at least) heli's - do you ever get them to fly identically, or do you have a favourite and a 'spare', and rotate when they crash ??

I have two Trex 250s, one is the latest v1 the other is an SE, and they both fly well, but not the same, I've spent ages trying to sort this out, and wonder if I am just missing the point. Both have identical setups and settings as close as I can get but the v1 flies smoother and crisper - maybe just because it has a lot more flying time, I've spent this weekend trying to just fly the SE and it seems better but I think its probably just me getting used to it ??

So do you fly both heli's alternately or just fly one all the time until it breaks/crashes and then swap.

I got a Trex 450 sport and I just bought a second one for when I'm out in Luxembourg. I'll let you know if I can set them up the same :-)

I suspect unless they were built side by side, it can't be done...my UK 450 has been dinged serveral times and the main blade holders have distorted a little so the trim will be a little different.

With hardly any experiance in flying two of the same helis id still like to add that both heli components would have to be cloned, I think you always get little discrepancies in anything thats mass produced and so youll get slighty different outcomes, considering we have a heli spinning at 2000-3000 rpm where a little bit of sticky tape on one blade will throw it so any small minute differences will give you a different outcome I maybe talking cr*p though lol.

My two helis are similar, but one is a belt tail and the other a torque tube. This seems to make no difference. I've set the collective and cyclic the same on both heads and meaured all the links to be the same.
          They fly quite similar but:
One has a stronger 50 hyper than the other, one has faster servos than the other.

To get two the same you would need all the electrix the same and two motors new at he same time and run the same amount. The F3C boys try to get two identical helis and put a lot of time and effort into it - most of us just want a roughly similar heli to get flying quickly after a ding to "get straight back on the horse".
If you try and get them exactly the same it will do your head in!
