    Thanks Will

Not had one myself but many who bought the engine on release had tuning issues and found it difficult to live with. Different carb shims are required for 20% or 30% nitro and its key to run the correct glow pug too from what i remember. Some owners even ditched the carb in favour of an OS item.

Personally i wouldnt want the hassle so i'd reccomend either the OS55 or YS56 which seem to run with no issues

I have 2 of them, one with the novarossi pipe the other with the outrage 55 pipe. They have alot more power than the os50's.
i did have to shim the heads to use 20% optifuel, smoothes them out no end. as for tuning problems, i havnt had any. im running around a quarter turn in on idle needle and half turn in of main, pulls like a train.

Make sure you follow the start intructions of turning it over for about 5 seconds at full throttle and NO GLOW ATTACHED!.makes a world of difference especially in colder weather.
Overall i would highly recomend it, buy the outrage pipe, seems to hold power better and its cheeper, with a 50% crash replacement!

I had mine paired with the Novarossi pipe & it never skipped a beat straight out of the box.
        Superb power and very smooth.

I sold it complete with the pipe when I split my 600 up.
Would I have another? The answer would have to be NO.

A few other people I know of and many I've read of had problems with theirs from the start and could never get them to run right. Tim's (Busterboys) Blew 70 quids worth of glow plugs during its short life and then exploded for no reason. I know for a fact it was run in properly and was never run lean either. I felt rotten as he only bought it due to seeing the performance and reliability of mine!! Fortunately he was reimbursed all costs in the end.

Maybe I just got lucky but there are too many reported inconsistencies & problems elsewhere to make me risk another. Give it a miss and go for a trusty O.S 55 Oh, and the spares are a fortune and the black finish peels off the Novarossi muffler after a few flights. For a £100 muffler I found this diabolical.
        Cheers,

          Hey,
Im running a rossi 57 in my trex 600. It has loads more power than the Hyper 50. i havnt tried the OS 55 so i dont know about the power difference between them.
i have had the problem with the paint peeling off the exhaust too, but my exhaust was one of the first ones to be released. And i found that the piant only came off when it was hot and rubbed against somethings else, like grass or a cloth. They have changed the paint on the exhaust now, and are using the same paint as the 91 pipe uses, this has stopped the paint from coming off the pipe.
I am lucky enough to have Novarossi sponsorship, and currently all my engines are novarossi and havn't had a problem with any of them. (apart form the paint on the 57 pipe).
If it was between a Hyper 50 or a rossi 57, i would deffinatly choose the novarossi 57 because of the power is has.

And they are wilfully exchanging all the mufflers they sold with the crap 'Not fit for purpose' Paint for the new revised mufflers are they?
            Probably not
Mine never rubbed or scraped against anything mate, a combination of fuel and heat simply destroyed the finish. Nothing else.

Back in the days when I was a 1/8th scale circuit car racer (Serpent rc mainly), Novarossi was without doubt the engine of choice. My experience of "Rossi" has been positive, a great quality engine with fantastic credentials and performace specs.

In the wider rc community Novarossi is a respected engine brand, although not dominant in our sector, I would not hesitate to fly one in my heli.

I have 2 X 57's and cant fault either. One was bought 2nd hand here on RCHA with a trex 600 airframe. You tune them slightly different to the norm but certainly no more difficult to tune than a OS50. Just shim it for 30% as it makes for a smoother engine anyways and already has so much more power its unreal even on 20% Opti.

I much prefer the Outrage 57 muffler to the NR offering as it has a softer note, gobs of torque, cheaper + has a 50% crash replacement warranty.

Only thing to watch is the plastic throttle arm on the carb which is a bit fragile but is available as a spare now.

As for blowing plugs nope, two in about 15 gallons aint bad. Its a real bad boy power wise. On one airframe I'm running 620's with modded mixing levers +/-15 and still pegging back the potential headspeed. 600 blades are virtually un-boggable even when being really silly on the sticks and dont really load the motor enoughfor me.

Tuning, Set the motor to factory settings and adjust the throttle barrel till about 1/4 open. This is your idle position.
Adjust the main needle till its just stopping burbling in a long full pitch climb. Adjust the low end needle till the throttle response is crisp and clean in flight and you use this to set the midrange. I adjust this for example in sustained tic-tocs.
It seems to hold settings well in a variety of conditions and I dont feel I'm chasing the needles at all.

I would say theres a good 20% more power than a std hyper 50 and it tests the airframe for sure..me I like
