  • Autorotation Issue or Placebo Effect

    Heya All,

Like Always.. i usually end all my flights with an autorotation, But during a climb out to perform one, the engine totally died. So Straight into negative pitch nose down curve the model round regain headspeed, start the approach..

Coming down to land i notice that i had alot of headspeed left over, so much so i glided quite a bit.

But usually its not that high!

Bit confused as i did it again but without the engine cutting and the headspeed was lower then before...

Now i do have it so that the engine idles quite a high and the rotors spin a bit incase i quickly need to re-engage the motor.

Could it be that the clutch engaging during the auto that could possibly some how create some sort of drag?

Or.. is it just the placebo effect since the auto was more of Urgencey to get it down to earth in one peice?

    Regards
    Callum

as long as the one way on the main gear is working as it should, it should be no different, as if the engine is engaged and running slower than the main blades, then the main shaft will simply over-speed the one way and spin as fast as is needed
