  • Trex 700 Dilema

This may well seem like a For Sale advert, it isnt!
I have a raptor 50 and a trex 700, I love the raptor and although my flying skills are very limited compared to many here, I love flying/hovering the raptor. My 700 on the other hand I get little pleasure from, admitedly I havent had that much stick time with it, but I dont really enjoy it, Im not sure if its the size, the fact I know it would be expensive to repair in a crash, or just the size of the beast. I am begining to think another .50 machine maybe the way to go, which would mean getting rid of the trex.

So what are my options, could I ask for a trex 600 + some cash, just sell it, (will I regret this later), if I fly it more will I get more used to it? I really dont know what to do?

sounds to me like your scared to crash it. thats normal for most people so don't worry.

your problem i suspect is you have spent too much money on it or are scared of it. the spec you have there is pretty darn good stuff. subsequently you fly it in a way to protect it (or don't fly it period).

the absolute BEST thing you can do (this will sound weird) is crash it. i'm not saying on purpose but once you crash something for the first time for some reason that worry about keeping it good has gone and you enjoy it more. there will come a point where this won't bother you, when that is is completely upto you.

right now it sounds like your getting no enjoyment, if it is because of the price or you don't want to damage it get rid of it and get a 600 if thats your plan.

if you think you may overcome this then i'd hang onto it a bit longer.

    cheers

Pull yourself together and get out and fly it ...... You will get used to it the more you fly it. I flew my 700 for the first times in ages today. I was a little nervous at first, but within a minute or two remembered what a fine toy it really is

IMO... Keep the 700 a while longer.

Wait till the better weather arrives and give it a few more flights. See if it will grow on you a bit. It really is a cracking heli.

If after a bit more stick time you dont like, then look to do a part ex or just sell it

Hold on till the spring when you can really get your teeth into your flying.

Ive seen lots of people regret selling their 700's and you will love the 90 when your feeling it.

Bench it for a while IMHO

Sounds to me like your suffering from financial intimerdation.

Been there done that got the T'shirt. When I first built my 600 I suffered exactly the same problem, eventually I gave in and took a lesson with it with Darren Hardy (great tutor), after the first lesson every thing fell into place with it and I realised I did'nt need to treat it with silk gloves, LOL.

Slow the head speed down a little on the 700 and put 20 percent of expo on elevator and aileron, that should calm things down a little for you then as you feel more happy with the machine increase things bit by bit.

I also think you are scared of crashing it BUT
the price between 600 & 700 spares, yes the blades and canopy are more expensive BUT the difference in shafts etc etc is marginal IMO
                      Not a massive difference
keep it there a superb heli

when i first flew my 700le i couldnt get over how well it flew and fell in love with it straight away but found i wasnt flying it as much as my 600s probably just didnt want to crash it, as im at the stage where im pushing my flying quite a lot and if im going to crash id rather it be one of the 600s.
but this weekend i was forced to fly the 700 all day as my beater was out of action and id left the other 600 at home. it was the best days flying ive had scince starting this hobby.everything was so much easier/smoother with the 700 and i was doing things i hadnt done before other than on the sim.
anyway my point is that you should spend a day just flying the 700 and i promise you you will want to keep it ,its an awesome peice of kit and i will definately be using mine alot more now ive realised how much it will bring my flying on

A no-brainer. KEEP the 700. Once you get some confidence, you will love it. It's the best of all the TRex machines, and those who have or have had both will say it flies better than a 600. Spares are about the same, it just uses more fuel

For me the Raptor is my comfort zone. My Raptor 30 and 50 are trimmed perfectly and fly very predictably and it gives me confidence. But having said that my biggest problem is just not getting to fly enough in general.

Keep that 700 and once you`ve got a load more stick time on it you will love it to bits.

I`ve got a T Rex 600n Vbar as well and a Spectra G gasser and I still think for pure smoothness and fun factor the T Rex 700 takes some beating.
