    What another Heli Website

    Well Yes,
its become apparent that the UK will have more that one event this year and the organizers of most of these events want to bring them all in line to reduce the workload on the pilot's and harmonize the UK's Competition scene. By standardizing the "Rounds", organizers can choose which rounds they wish to use at their event. And ensure that pilots competing at another event aren't having to re-learn manoeuvres or judging criteria for each event. We see each round as a block and event organizer can choose which blocks they will use. A standard list of set manoeuvres has been created and will grow as the each seasons new manoeuvres is dreamt up.
We are also keen to ensure that all people who have an interest in the Sport are able to have a voice, so please contact us if you wish to be part of the team

                Hello,

below some thoughts that came to my mind, when reading the text. Probably it's clear to anybody who has flown a 3D competition before, but I haven't :-)

                Cheers

6), 30), 36) Figure 8s: It doesn't tell the orientation, is that on purpose? (either way "in front/back" and "left/right" is "symmetrical". I think it's "left/right", right?)
                8) Flipper: maybe some hint: how many, how long?
                13) "Kaos" as in 3DX? There it states explicitly: piroflip with rotating flip axis. The discussion "what is Chaos" keeps our local forum alive over the winter months...
                11) and 41) "there should be minimal" hesitation: Should I try to keep it as short as possible, or should I briefly but clearly hesitate?

the text speaks sometimes of "vertical circuits", sometimes of "loops"
                15) refers to "crescents", 37 and 51) refer to "arcs". Is this the same?

The plan is to try and slowly get them aligned, with Rob on the committee it will allow us to find the differences and see if we can change either to make them match.
looking at it theres lots of simularities, the main sticking piont is the set's. which we hope to start to align as time goes by. at the end of the day we want something that enables pilots to practice once for their years competitions

                        hope that makes sence

I think you're a little bit more advanced than F3N. Pirouetting funnel with a K of 9.5 out of 10... Just a little bit

                              A few thoughts.

The important criteria is to have a recognised list of set manouvres to work from.

I think of 3D flying as a flexable format that can be adapted more readily to suit the Piloting ability or event organisors who may/may not for example be able to cater for Flights To Music etc.
This flexability makes it very attractive as changes/adaptions can be introduced quickly and easily as required.

The main thing is to maintain that recognised core of manouvres.

We also have the 3DX Format.
It is common knowlege that many are put off by the increasing difficulty as offered by the 3DX Format + they have seemingly long forgotten about the grassroots pilot in the headlong rush to create world dominance.

F3N to date has been slow and cumbersome to adapt in comparision to what we already have, but with Robs help and guidance hopefully this can change.
The FAI who oversee the 'F' groups are well known for this and I dont envy Robs task one bit..One thing that I have always hated about the FAI is the unrelenting regimentation that sometimes disadvatages the very people its trying to support.

3D Scotland in May is the first Competition to cater for the genuine grassroot flyers for some time, and not just the Int/Advanced Pilot.

To cater for this level Pilot has required us re-introduce a more basic list of set moves that most reasonably competant Clubman pilots can feel comfortable with.

(I believe Rob is tweaking this listing currently for further use)

Hope that helps you understand some of the difficulties to be overcome.

                              Brian
