Took the Blade400 out yesterday setup using some pushrod setups that were apparently factory. Bollocks they were, even though I managed to get the everything level something with the pitch was wrong and I put it down to my pitch gauge having slop on it. I took it out and it was lifting before midstick so I had positive pitch before center stick and as a result the headspeed was too low. Which equals unstable hovering/stability, anyway I managed to land it safely yesterday but almost put it through some rugby goals due to the instability.....Johnny Wilkinson eat your heart out.
Late lastnight while reading Blade400 Bible some more I stumbled upon the PNP Version of the Blade400 manual, so at about 12.30 lastnight I decided to reset all of my links to these settings. Switched on the TX and heli at about 1am and found that it was fairly level. Did some final checks in the morning with swash levelling and then decided to head out after a battery charge.
Started her up and it didn't feel that right level wise as it was veering backwards and to the right so made some adjustments to the subtrims.
I've flown both into and away from the wind (approx 15knts).
At the moment with no forward/backward cyclic it slightly drifts away from
me when flying tail-in with the wind behind. So requires a minut amount of backward cyclic to compensate.
On the flipside when flying tail-in and into the wind I have to apply about the same amount of forward cyclic to compensate for the wind.
With lift the left landing skid slightly drops and you notice a bit of drifting but that is normal from what I've read.
Managed to get through two batteries one at about 2pm and the other at about 3.45pm when the light and wind was dropping. I managed to sustain a few hovers into the wind in roughly the one spot so was happy. I didn't try any piros as these usually end up with me having to fork out money on new tailbooms and servos
All in all a good day of flying for me.....one heli that comes home in one peice!
