  • Twister 3D storm - battery connect

Hello all Im new on here and have been made welcome by Stuart,

For the Twister 3D storm is there any sort of Power Switch on the helicopter or do you simply connect the charged battery to it?

Reason I ask is that I quickly tried this and got a spark when touching the battery leads to the heli leads.

If this is a stupid question I apologise in advance, I just dont want to "fry" anything!!

Cheers and Happy new year to all

You want to plug in a 6S or 12S battery pack

Nobody uses switches to the flight battery in helis as its another failure point you don't need, just plug it in as the above posts, it won't cause any damage.

          Cheers for that Steve,

Have since done it, I was just unsure about the arc as Im new to electric flight. You make a good point it is one more thing that could fail.

Once I get it airborne I shall consider the batteries your on about cheers for the tip (still doing loads of sim flying but I feel the need to get the real thing up (literally) and running

          Cheers

I dunno about failure as I have a switch on my nitro heli but what you're looking at there is a battery with lower Voltage and mAh so the amount of current that it's putting out is a lot less as it's only driving the RX and servos.

With electric helis you're powering the motor and from the align trex450 manual as an example the rce-bl35x (speed controller + bec) puts out a continuous current of 35A with peak of 45A. Try and find a compact and lightweight switch that can handle say 50A.
