  • Trex 450 seesaw stiffening up in cold

Not having too much of a New Year hangover, took the 450 down the local park for a spot of low-level hover practice.

Found after a few minutes flying that the seesaw had stiffened up in the cold. When I got it back home it loosened back up again.

This is my first winter with a heli, so is this something to be expected and is there a fix?

    Happy new year,
    Matthew

I put having trouble with a stiffy down to age!!!!!!!!!!

Have you got it well lubed? Never had that prob with either of my TRexs. Try undoing the screws/bolts and then redo with threadlock but just a bit looser than before.

I found when building my 450 that I had to go easy on tightening the seesaw bolts. I guess, being that much lighter and thinner than on my 500/600, they are more likely to distort if over-tightened.

In truth I still feel that mine is a little too stiff and may loosen it a little more.

There is nothing to gain by having a stiff see-saw.

Took the mixer arms off and it seems there was a very small washer missing. Replaced that and its improved things a little. Loosening the bolts too much means there some horizontal movement, which doesn't seem right. I think the problem maybe the plastic linkages tightening in the cold as well.
