  • O.S 50 MAX SX Guttless?

Its about a year and a half old now, still sounds sweet but seems like its lost power over the last 3-4 months.
Given the time of year i cant afford to change the piston, liner, and ring for 70 odd quid!
Is there away of looking for wear to pin point the problem maybe? or would i benifit from just changing the ring maybe?

    Thanks in advance!

Are you shaw that the bearings are ok?
I have not just changed a ring but could see it helping.
you could take the ring off and put it back in the liner and check the gap

Sorry for stating the obvious Carl but have you turned the engine over and felt the compression by hand. It helps if you have another one to compare with. Have you altered the main needle with the onset of the colder weather, you might find you need to start richening up a bit

Theres no sign of noisey bearings as it had a rear about 6 months back!
It seems to have plenty of compression so i guess the rings ok?
It has had a carb smart on it but i took it off to get it set up right but still seems to be down on power!
Im tempted to change the engine from my Knight and see if theres a big difference!

Before you do and I'm sure you've done this yourself as your not a newb just try retuning the engine but not looking for heat from the backplate but an even smoke trail in a full power climb out. I've got an SX albeit with a 3 needle car and it is running sweet. It's about the same age as yours and has had one set of bearings.
