  • My Christmas Day (Brief Build Thread)

Well Hello! I hope all you have had a great day today! I sure enjoyed it!

So... Christmas day i unwrapped my CopterX 450! With 50 amp ESC and CopterX 430XL Motor.. And decided i would built it during the course of the day! and i have just finished!

One thing i have to say is that the Quality is really good! Im So Impressed! the packaging is even better then ElyQ hehe,

There's even a box with CA Glue, Thread Lock, Grease, and Some other type of glue/threadlock all for whats needed during the semi build!

There is no instructions in paperform.. but there a CD to which my suprise was very good! insert the disc.. up comes a nicely designed web document (see screen shot).. this includes videos to get you started along with other product manuels!

    Pics:

    The Box:

Box Opened with Wood Blades (not used) and ESC Programming Instructions:

Box Further more opened showing the contents of each indivisual box:

    The included bag of glues/threadlocks/greese:

Further more on with ESC, Servos, Gyro, Flybar Installed:

    Build Pretty much complete:

    Build Complete:

Overall i am very impressed! for a kit that costs 57 Dollars (80inc Motor and ESC) its well worth every penny imo.. and if i crash or write it off.. so be it.. the cost to get a new one is very livable!

                Hey Guys!

Just gotten back from trying her out.. and wow. its very smooth, too smooth and stable for my liking, only downside is that im running a crappy gyro but good tail servo and the two dont like each other as i cannot get the heli to hold good without the tail going mental!

                Anyways.. Moving on.

Took off into a nice hover.. two clicks with trim and she was locked in hovering! Brill! did some forward flight and it was very smooth and pridictable! felt like some automation device was helping me out! haha also the CoG was spot on! (2200mah lipo)

Now.. the headsetup is all spot on except the pitch range. i followed finless bobs videos but he kinda failed to mention that if you dont get your full collective throw and your hitting around +7/8 with the washout just touching the head then you need to lower it! obvious really but.. not for me last night until i woke up and a light bulb turned on

I have not flown a 450 in.. probably 8 months.. the belt cp was just pance and crap.. but this CopterX is bloody brilliant!

                Changes to make:

Legnthen the washout links to lower the washout base to achieve good collective rang,

Try and make the tail hold!

Increase the bloomin swashmix! thing feels like its got around 50% Expo! haha

Get a 13t pinion! running 11t and the headspeed aint cutting it at all.

                Then fly it to death!

                -----

Very happy with it! i might even buy another one for like a scale project, and whats better yet you can walk into your LHS and pickup spares as its 100% Align 450 compatible..

Do you usually say that pre maiden though? That's like the worst thing to say before a flight, other than perhaps "OK then, one more..."
