yes I didnt think many would start drilling holes in a new engine. there are a few good tips on the DVD's as you say, he also makes you buy a few tools you'd never have thought of buying, I bought a dupro balancer and now all the heads are balanced spot on. and after buying a DSX9 I set it up as he uses a x9303 which is very similar.
Not sure on the ball links, I use the ones that came from aline and have had no probs, so far

I'm not sure if the Quick UK links are their own or not, but the Rocket City links are now Forture Model Products and are a perfect fit to the K&S 181 balls. The links are not the same material as the Thunder Tiger ones, they are softer and do not take well to re-sizing tools. I've always used this combo and never had a problem.
I would do the carb mod either !

They seem to be what everyone recommended utting on the 700 at first.

I have a few sets from midlands as you cant get the Avant ones at the mo and yes they do seem very good.

Need to start them off by running a scissor blade or something around the hole as they smaller int dia.

Thanks for all replies, can anyone confirm is these quick uk ones allow you to do half turns? (I'm aware of the 'fix' in that you remove the balls and mount them 'backwards' if a half turn is needed on 'one way' links. I'd much rather have two ways links if possible.

i have the quick uk ones on my 700 they seem to be quite good just need to see how long they last, most people are saying they last longer than the align stock links

What happens if you force a 'one way' link on the wrong way round ? (ie so the big lip ends up on the inside.)

I'm struggling to see the point of one-way links myself.

I think you can do it, but its not secure and quite easy to fling off in flight which will obviously result in a crash. Not sure why they exist in the first place though, i'd have thought adjustment would have been the name of the game on heli's, and either two way ball links or turnbuckles would be stock on modern helicopters

Perhaps I've got this wrong.

AIUI, the one-way links have a tight side, and a loose side. Normally, the tight side goes on the outside, and doesn't get forced over the ball; and it's the lip on the loose side that stops it popping free.

If it's on reversed, the tight lip has been forced over the ball. But this presumably means that it will be harder to pop free than if it were on correctly.

So I'd guess that if it's possible to put them on reversed, unless it causes damage, it's no less functional or secure ?
