  • Revlok settings???

Hi all, ive just fitted a CSM Revlok in my raptor 30 v2. Im past the basic setup stage. Ive set it up remotely on switch G (2 way switch) on my Futaba 9CHP TX. Im now at the stage of programming the RPM range on mode A and B. Basically im stuck there... what rpm range should i have for my raptor 30? Also once this is set do i just use the ATV values on the remote channel to change the headspeed? If you do i suppose it will be a case of trial and error with the ATV values and checking the headspeed with a tacho... is this right or am i totally confused here?
    Thanks in advance

when setting it remotely, just look at what the led's on the governor show (with the throttle high, but without the engine running obviously!), and read against the quick start laminated card you get with it.

So what range shall i set it to? 14 - 18k??? i understand how to read it without the card but what i dont understand is what the engine rpm is in relationship to the helis headspeed. Afterall its the constant headspeed im after. Very confused now.

Governor shows engine RPM and you are setting head RPM

Raptor 30 gearing is 9.5 to 1 so 9.5 revolutions of the engine per 1 revolution of the head

Just divide the engine RPM by 9.5 to give the headpseed you would get at that setting

the rpm required can be worked out by multiplying the required headspeed by the gear ratio. according to the thunder tiger site, on the raptor 30v2 it is 9.56. so if you wanted a headspeed of 1700rpm, it would be 1700*9.56=16252. hope this makes sense

            Or

Multiply the required headspeed by 9.5 to give engine speed

            example

1800 headpseed times 9.5 is 17,100 engine speed so set the range to the nearest value under that and then adjust the atv to get the leds reading the correct sequence to make it up to 17100

Right now ive got that set up whats the crack so to speak in regards to setting the sensitivity? Theres a small pot on the board. Its set roughly in the middle... is this a good starting point and also will it be easy enough to set when i take the heli out next (hopefully tomorrow weather permitting, i dont mind a bit wind)?
                  Thanks again guys.

                    Yes
Start with it in the middle
spool the heli up and take it into the hover the engine noise and head speed should be constant

If it sounds like the engine is slowing down and speeding up (hunting) then you need to adjust the gain pot down until it stops

If the engine note is constant you can leave the gain where it's at or adjust it up untill you get the hunting as described above and and then turn it down slightly (as you would for a gyro)

never had problems with setting the gain, just left it in the middle. All problems i have had with rev-locks has been down to incorrect servo geometry.

Great help guys seems pretty straight forward. Ade id want to set it up like you have yours on the website... so how do i actually do that? The way i have it set up now is mode (a) and (b) of the revlok are on a 2 way switch. Ive programmed (a) with a low headspeed and (b) with a higher one. How do i have it so its disabled in normal flight mode? The way ive set it up i have now realised that i can choose these 2 diffrent headspeeds but 1 of them will always be active in any flight mode. Im using a Futaba 9CHP by the way. Do i just change the switch im using for the revlok to the same as the flight mode switch? I currently have my flight modes on a 3 way switch. Up is normal, in the middle is idlup1 and down is idlup2. I take it if i assign mode (a) on the revlok to the middle of the switch and mode (b) to down then that would be it. Not sure if im kinda answering my own questions here but just need reassuring. Also Ade you talk about having 2 v curves on your idleups. My idleup1 isnt a v curve only idleup2 is, will this matter?
                        Thanks

You got it... assign the gov screen to switch E

as its 0 - 100% You take 50 as being centre which disables the gov.

you should end up with something like this.

                          norm 50%
                          idleup1 24%
                          idleup2 81%

Ah right... ive just been using the end points and not bothering with the governor screen. Is this ok? If i do use the governor screen then what do i set the end points too?
                              cheers
