  • First breakage...sob sob

I guess that's the first one out of the way then...only a minor shunt though, got too cocky and tried to do a nose in 360*, lost my orientation completely, panicked and shut the throttle. The Chinook hit the floor hard and snapped the o/s/rear undercarriage leg.. ..1/2" of alloy tube and a drop of superglue and five minutes later, job done.

    Lesson learned though...

            Hey Rich,
I've seen somebody who is a half decent 3D pilot bust up a coax while demonstrating it.

It happens m8, No big deal, and it looks like you've done a good repair job on it

Ouch..now there's a man who crept out under the door instead of opening it!

I've done worse....managed to lose a sub in 20' of muddy river on it's maiden voyage! Never did get that one back....

The first day I had my new sweeper at work, went up on the landfill site to tip, fell in a hole and ended up with me looking at the sky with the sweeper's ass down in the hole. Did nearly forty grand's worth of damage in less than two minutes....

              I've done worse....

Oh man, that hurts just reading about it. But, as you rightly say, it's the way you learn...my commiserations.

Only problem is, having started off with just a slight bump, I still have the big one to come....

Oh man, you fellas are giving me indigestion reading about your prangs..

I guess I have been lucky, back when I had my Hughes 300, the worst thing that ever happened to that was a burst float. The Shuttle never even got scratched in it's career...so yes, I guess Lady Luck took a shine to me in my heli flying. Shame she ignored the works vehicles...one VERY bent sweeper, God knows how much damage to a street in Polperro during my long distance trucking career, and then there was that incident on the IOW ferry...

Guess Lady Luck prefers things that go round and round....
