But that's just your biased opinion bolstered by the fact you are a Compass rep.

I think you'll find it interests a hell of a lot of people who own the products and pay for them out of their own pocket.

I can't think of any other manufacturer that chops and changes distributor as frequently as Compass. I find it hard to believe the reason for change is always the fault of the distributors - they can't ALL be bad so the finger gets pointed at Compass as the generator of the root cause of the problems.

In the UK Weston don't even come on here (the premiere Heli forum) to make any announcements, offer any help or even show their face. It's left to someone in another country to do - no disrespect to you personally but it doesn't bode well that Compass can't even be arsed to get a UK spokesperson to promote their brand in the UK.

It's never easy to compete with the big companies, yeah and Rome wasn't built in a day, so ......

You know sh.t happens, and who says that Compass dumped the US distributor ......

The only thing to me that is important is, that you can buy your parts and heli's in the country you live in.

Someone needs to wake up and smell the coffee; it not the product we expect that’s going to be good and in the case of the 3D great flying Heli. We want support, support, support, more support, parts next day, more parts, help, reasonable value for money and security in the knowledge that that infrastructure is sill going to be there tomorrow.

Would I buy another Knight; Not a cat in hells chance no matter how good it was. There are now to many good supported alternatives…….. pity still like my 3D

Apart from Gareth71 as far as we know there are no Compass field reps in the UK(He's not one now, never got the Odin to fly). Give me a 3D plus and I'll be a field rep for you ;-). The problem you and Compass face Dirk is that the constant changing of distributorship is a worrying thing. It means that Compass/Luke have absolutely no business sense whatsoever, they don't make informed choices from the start. When they selected climb out they basically made themselves available to the whole of the UK. If FastLad stock it people will buy it, if Rob Blake pushes it, it will sell. I would love to see the sales figures from Weston, the amount of models they have sold. It won't be many. Nothing wrong with Weston I had good service from them.

The shame is their constant problems with their business leaves us the end user without the confidence to spend our hard earned. I agree that we shouldn't worry about who distributes but the fact is more people play underwater tiddlywinks than fly helis making it a fringe hobby/sport. Therefore everyone knows the business.

In fairness that was a while ago. I think Bob is referring to Dirk being Belgian and Compass having no-one in the UK as rep.

What do you have to do to be a field rep anyway? 'Just out of curiosity.

I still have a K3D kit and a Knight Sport, one or both being part of my winter projects and now it seems they are going further out of fashion

But I always tend to try to support the underdog, which is one reason for getting the Ely.Q (and I liked the look of them when I first saw them at 3DM last year).

                    constant changing of distributorship
In the interests of fairness, it might be worth pointing out here that, as far as I'm aware, there has only ever been one change of distributor in the UK?
                    1. Climb-out
                    2. Weston

                    Unless that's incorrect, of course?

Hey, how did my name pop us in this?

Gulp! I've done nufink wrong guv, honest.

Okay, so I bought an Odin, guilty as charged! Did not really get along with it so I no longer have it.

Dn't know much about the history distribution etc (or much about anything really), but I can only report on my experience - Odin? well, I was (and still am a newb), so the 'problems' I had may be real problems, or may be me..dunno! I now have Srimok and have loads of problems (must be me then). What I can say for sure is that Weston, and Steve from Weston gave me a lot of latitude and spent a lot of unpaid hours educating me in the nitro way.

Ah well! Who nose WHOTF cares?

                      :-)

Your name popped up from the fact that you were recruited as a field rep for Weston promoting the Compass brand. You did nothing wrong mate. You were told about the distribution history (of which you are correct Rob there was only one in the UK) when you started the Odin build thread.

I was referring, not that it matters to the overall constant changes of distribution showing a complete lack of business awareness.

                          Hey Dave,

thanks for the reply. There are some UK field reps that's sure. And i think there's a misunderstanding regarding being a field rep.

Field rep's don't get their helicopters for free !! They have to pay for them but they get a discount and that's it.
