  • Boxing day pitch gauge question!

    Hi all & merry christmas!

Just setting zero pitch at 50% stick on the Swift & I have a question
The blades are stock wooden 515mm...

I have the blades reading exactly zero degrees 10cm in from the tips and all the way to the root, (Both blades) but the very tips of the blades read minus 2 degrees (Both blades ) I'm sure the blades are manufactured with 'Twist' but which am I to set to read zero? The tips or what?!!

Common sense tells me to ignore the tips as long as they are both in track but I just want to be sure fellas.
    Cheers,

    Gazza

I assumed so mate due to them both being the same??
Maybe they've both just warped to the same degree

woodies can warp i have seen it a few times where they have been stored off the heli and not left flat.

or you could be using the pitch gauge wrong.

i dont like them they are easy to use incorrectly and any stiffness in the linkages will give you a missreading too.

            Hiya mate.
I've freed all the linkages already & I'm using the TT pitch gauge.

I've confirmed the readings by turning the gauge upside down & establishing the same readings with the flybar & swashplate level.

Could just be a case of cheap Century wooden blades warping

Ps I've not had the blades stored off the heli & they've always been in a blade caddy.

            Thanks fellas
            Cheers,

                Gazza,

                Just checked my Swift woodies.

                One reads -4,-4,-4 the other -6, -5, -6.

They track fine so I can only think it's a bit of distortion to one blade compensated for by tracking adjustment.

Are Fibre blades any better. More accurate?

I would say so mate. Century are out of stock on the 515mm carbons. ( £39.99)

Thanks for checking David I'll just ignore the tips then as they are in track and the rest of both blades reads zero.
                  Cheers,

Aye I know mate, which is why I didnt like the idea of doin loops with em'

I'll get some carbons as soon as this boring restrictive anti-flying festive period is thru!

But...Collecting Rappy this week so hmmmm I predict a stripped out Swift
