  • Blade mSR or HB FP V2??????

    Hi all

Me and my son are now the owners and flyers of a Blade mCX.
I am thinking of the next stage, (a couple of months time) and trying to decide the next step.
I like the sound of both and like the idea of the HB as it is a bigger heli to control. But I do need to think of my boy and getting something that he will be able to fly and not get his confidence knocked by crashing every minute.
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

    Chris
P.S. wonder if I should get both?

the msr would be the next logical step you have the tx all you need is the bnf version

The MSR will help continue the confidence growth, the HB would probably stop you both in your tracks at least initially.

You can master the HB given enough time and patience but it is not in the same league as the MSR for confidence building.

Yes, I bought a HB some time ago and regretted it right from the moment I opened the box ...

+ 1 For the mSR. Its a lot more agile than the mCX but is still stable enough to not be to big a leap forward.
Best not think about any other single rotor helis until you've got the feel of them and how they fly in Phoenix.
Once you can fly them in Phoenix you should be able to fly them for real

Forget the HBFP. Get the msr.

I'd second the MSR as it seems the next logical progression. As others have said, get Phoenix but not sure it will work with the MCX/MSR tx as I'm not sure it has a training port.

The mSR is a good choice and it far more agile than the mCX. I don't know the HB FP v2 so can't comment.

I went straight from a CX2 to a Blade 400 - you are going to want to get something like this sooner or later and I chose the Blade 400 because of recommendations and spares are cheap and readily available.

Whatever you get, it will take time to master it though and I do endorse other comments about Phoenix - it is excellent - I think you said in another post you were getting that for Christmas and already have a DX6i.

Think that is a good path, to the Blade 400. Forget the Esky rubbish.

Chris, I actually bought my Blade400 after buying a 2nd hand Hawk Pro which was a lemon. The B400 was some retail therapy Then I bought Phoenix and then MSR (BNF) to prac in the flat when the weather wasn't permitting. I think the B400 is fine if you fly it in very low winds or in a hall. You can alter the rate/expo and curves to make it less twitchy or even add weights (collets or nuts) to the flybar to increase stability. Somebody said there were some aftermarket flybar paddles that were heavier than stock but I haven't come across them yet. As for a B400, give it time and you might find someone here that is selling one

Update: just checked some of your other posts and found that you have a DX5e and DX6i. I thought you had the stock tx that came with MCX. Phoenix will run fine just specify when ordering what brand of TX you have and all should be fine.

I agree with that - my HBFP is harder to fly then my 450. .... to big to really fly around the lounge and too light to successfully fly outside in anything other then perfectly calm weather.
