  • charging tx battery

    Hi all
I bought a 2100mah Nimh battery for my tranny and have been gently charging it at 0.1c for it's first few outings using a Peak Prodigy 2.
I charged it for the first time last night at 1 amp and it beeped after two hours as expected.
Trouble is, I noticed that I charged it on the Nicad setting and not Nimh. Will this damage the pack?
The battery was nice and warm but not, I would say, hot i.e. it felt nice in your hands as a handwarmer.

    Thanks
    Cheers, Lee.

Probably OK,i think Nimh`s need a more gentle charge than a Nicad can handle

Im not that well up on leccy stuff but i cant see the harm as long as its not a regular occurence

I think i may qualify for the Dork of the year awards as a while ago i was charging a Lipo on NIMH set on my Prodigy 2,,

Wasnt one of my better moments,,3djim noticed it and it was promptly disconnected, pack was nice and warm i can say and well overcharged..

The icing on the cake is it was right next to my fuel, literally

Plane flew well on it though, plenty of oomph

As far as i know and im no expert your pack should be slightly warm as it gets full
As for charging a nimh on a nicad setting i doubt you will have caused any problems, Both types of packs charge the same way its just the peak detection thats diffrent
I was told the detection on nimh is more sensative and prone to false peaks unlike the nicads,
So i think the only problem you could have had was the pack false peaking and stopping the charge, But there might be some expeert out there that knows far more than me

        Thanks all.
The pack seems ok at the mo - I guess time will tell.
The charger bleeped when I expected it to so hopefully it's not been over fed with amps.
        Cheers, Lee.
