  • 450 SE V2 advice

    guys

Some urgent advice is requested. I've just been offered a brand new, still shrink wrapped 450 SE V2 kit in my LHS for £125.

It includes the motor, esc etc but is not a super combo kit. Is it worth buying? Is there anything about the SEV2 I should avoid!

Go for it! you can't go wrong with a 450SE V2, have had several of these and they sound as a pound. Spares available everywhere and cheep too.

Align didn't make a super combo up until the 250 as far as I know.

Very good price for it. I paid 280 last year for one.

Sounds like a good price to me mate

I have one and its a great tool for learning something new (cheaper to repair than a 600 or 700 lol)
            Thanks, Chris

All it will take is gyro / tail servo, cyclic servos and blades.

If you don't spend lots of money on the gyro and tail servo you can get it in the air very cheaply.

I have the super cheapy little tower pro servos on my GL450 and they work fine. I upgraded the tail servo and currently have an Acerlab servo that was under £20.00. Blades cost next to nothin.

Then it's just Lipos if you don't already have some. The Loong Max seem very good value for money and you can get those around £20.00 ish each.

                  GET IT!!!

I paid £200 for mine and it's the best investment I've made in this hobby.

It's like the bridge between the sim & my 600, it's easy to maintain & fly, the hardest crashes only cost ten bob to put right, and above all it's fun!

like gate88 i also use the 450v2 to try a new move on then once im confident ill try it on my 600nsp.
they cost very little to fix and with the rubbish winter weather coming in you can always use it indoors.
                      Thanks

I'll use my age old analogy...

Your 500/600 is a lot like the the wife, solid, dependable, rugged, long term, expensive, a little boring at times, always keeping you in check, but you stay with her because you love her and thats the way it's always been.

Your 450 is the 18 Y/O barmaid down the pub, lively, tidy looking, low maintainance, never complains, likes a good spanking, great for a bit of slap and tickle when you need it, but if youre honest, you aint ever gonna marry her!

Martin,as much as i like my 450,i just dont seem to fly it these days because the 500 and 600 are much nicer to fly,i dont know why i have it still!

Just food for thought as it will cost you alot more to kit out, then you got to ask yourself....will i fly it??

I would rather spend the money on 2 or 3 more 500 lipos TBH

I left my 450 on the shelf for a long time because I was much more interested in flying the nitro helis. But lately I have really warmed up to the 450 again. For me it allows flying when it just would not be practical for me to get down to the field with a bigger heli. I suppose I might feel different about that if I lived real close to a place I could fly the others.

There's also that element of cost factor as it has been said, it's cheap to repair a 450 so you can try things and maybe be a bit bolder. For me it's mainly the portability and stuff and I really enjoy flying the 450's now.
