  • How to change the weather this weekend!

Lets lighten the mood here a bit

Over 25 years of hang gliding competition I have found a sure fire way of changing the weather.

When faced with an "absolutely no chance" weather forecast the hang gliding community has on several occasions, both in the UK and internationally, discovered one sure way of changing strong winds and rain into light winds and sunshine.
Its not easy, it takes a big collective effort.
The good news is that just this week it has been scientifically proven that, at least for men, there is no associated health risk associated with the necessary procedure - in fact there may be health benefits! (note that for female participants they are still saying there is an unfortunate health risk).

The answer is a hang over.
Copious consumption of alcohol has been proven to induce a weather improvement approximately equal to the number of hang overs and their intensity.
So get some ale in - especially those sneakey types contributing to the "break in the weather this afternoon" thread!
The more folks feeling too tired an emotional to fly in the morning, the more chance there is of us sensible teetotal types waking up to an unpredicted calm and sunny day!

    Your spot on mate!!!!!!!!!

whenever i drink a skinfull (all too often) the weather the next day is peeeerfect for flying an i miss out cos i can't even think straight let alone fly!!!

Now here is the dilema. Do i hit the bottle hard in the hope the wind holds back or drink in moderation like the adverts and docs say and watch the trees swing in the morning.

We need volunteers..... those prepared to get proper wasted that can hold the flag for this cause.

If i must i will..... but i'm a reserve at the mo

      Great and so true!

I have spent many an evening in the bar at Camphill getting slowly hammered(probably while you guys were trying to have one of your meetings in the adjoining room) and waking up in the morning to an unexpected stunner of a day

Several cans of Fosters & more than a few Jagermeister and lemonades. I'll sleep happy tonight knowing i've done the right thing

Sorry, does not compute......... computer says 'no'.

How can you own and fly a Vibe SG and even contemplate alcohol on any level? You ought to be spending your time between flights naked and quivering in the corner of a very soft and dark room while repeatedly reciting the Old Testament backwards in Arabic, just plucking up the courage to go fly again and unleash the Hounds of Hell at all your senses (and your wallet maybe).

Alas, while it is still early, it doesn't look like this plan has succeeded

Piddling down with rain here and blowing a gale. Still, I've spent the time awake thus far productively - just downloaded the Finless vids for the 450!

              Nice idea.

Regrettably, am off to work in a few minutes or so, and reeking of alcohol would be a sure way of getting myself fired!!!!!!!!!!!!

              But there's always next weekend..............................

my way is alcohol free - begrudgingly agree to visit the wife's friends miles away from home and i will guarantee the weather will be fantastic -

unfortunately it only works for your buds and not you - take one for the team ;-)

Well I did my bit last night and although it's sunny here right now it's breezy and forecast to pick up a lot!

So it almost worked here but not quite.

Nope - looking positively wet and windy out now. No flying for me today.

                    Must get on Phoenix.

Right that one definitely didn't work did it. its actaully weorse than the forecasdt here - continuous rain with the strong wind rather than showers...

Plan B is if everyone arranges to visit inlaws or take their other half xmas shopping next weekend, the rest of us should get a nice one

Someone's got to take the hit waiting in a shoe shop to get the rest of us some nice weather!

Went to the pub last night...

                        Went flying this morning!

                        It works!!

Although, I did get absolutely drenched
and it stopped just as I got back to the car
