again thanks for your advice - you lot seem to know what you're on about

well i took the plunge and got the Spekky DX6. I dont mind if I have to upgrade in a few months - I do hope I get to that stage

I cant wait to get it all setup and use my Raptor 30 again!

I have a Century Hummingbird CP which had its own crystal style Rx - am I able to put this Spekky Rx on it and have a little indoor fun? Or do I need an oldstyle non-2.4Ghz Tx?

DX6i is a fantastic radio, I bought one last year thinking I would use it for a couple of planes, and since then have just gone crazy, I have 8 receivers now (mostly AR6100e, but now like the AR6110e better as its smaller and has the hold light) in a bunch of planes, gliders and helis, and most of the BnF stuff too MCX/MSR/SU26/Vapor - and they are all fantastic (well maybe all except the SU26).

After a week you will laugh about all that faffing around with crystals and pegs - what was that all about ;-)

Not sure why everyone is so DX7 mad, I can't see the point of it - and I am just about run out of memories on my DX6i, so think I will buy another one - cheaper than upgrading to a DX7 - I prefer the interface, battery life on 4xAA NIMH+ is ridiculously long, and I can get a buddy lead for messing about with.

The reason why people jump to DX7 or 7cap is because the DX6i and futaba 6exa have limits that any helicopter flyer will hit quickly enough and then there are those of us who fly more complicated models that require even more channels and mixs than the 6 can handle and for me the DX-7 doesn't even come close to what I need for example.

if you want to turn a gov on/off how do you do that on a 6 channel set ?
wait set of retracts how do they operate ? pha 6 channels sounds enough but 7 is best minimal set up from the outset.
