Can't believe the prices for a rear bearing for my OS37.. thought £15 for a piston ring was steep ...

    but £30 ****ing quid

I thought I'd give the spare engine a go but new bearings and a piston ring best part of £60...

    don't think I'll bother now...

Dont know of any alternatives but someone on here probably will,
cant believe that a 37's rear bearing would be twice the price of a 50's!
just goes to show that OS's spares prices are a joke!

I reckon if you were to take it into a shop pref one that does planks you will find a generic part that will fit.
reason for the plank shop is the do many more engine manufacturers from MDS to enya

I just had al ook on justengines website and most bearings are like £15 even for the 50 hyper but for some odd reason the 37 is £30 which leads you to think there may be some odd spec to this bearing.

                    Dave.

I did not pay that for a 90 rear bearing, ask Rambo.

He got mine for a 90 and I think it was about £15.

This is a well worn path. The OS37 has a special size bearing. The bearing is only for the OS37. Nothing else seems to use that bearing, hence the price.

Conversely the bearing in the 50s and 90s are standard size and so they are much, much cheaper. For example I only paid £4.30 for a front and rear bearing for the OS 50 Hyper.

The OS37 rear bearing is unique to OS engines. The same bearing is used in one of their buggy engines, and that's it. Nobody else uses it anywhere for anything.

That's why you can only get a genuine OS one, and not a generic replacement, and yes it's £30 or nothing.

Unfortunate, but true. I replaced mine a couple of months ago and went through the same process of searching for a cheaper alternative.

This is possibly the company that makes the bearing for OS. The chances of them sending you one is slim. You might convince them you want to start selling them and require some samples.
