I agree, if you think how many of them there are out there compared to the amount of gripes you hear and I'd say its a fairly robust, well designed little starter.

Sure the battery compartment could be a bit bigger & the deans connector can be a bit fiddly but they deliberatly havent wasted any space, that's what makes it such a compact unit.

Guys i don't have any axe to grind with Align. I have quite a few Align products. I'm not an Align fanboy but i know some .

Apparently i'm not the only one with problems. Look at the other forums. If i pay decent money then i expect a decent product.

      Anyway.
I have been in touch with the supplier and hes sorting it for me .

      I will keep you posted.

      Regards

I enquired with the shop I bought mine from and I admitted that it was probably at least partially my fault. So the reply I got was that they will not just replace it.

The silly thing is, you cannot get just the wand, you have to buy the whole assembly with bearings etc. for £16.99

Can you not just replace the actual meta shaft with one out of another starer wand, the cup style wands are only 7 quid or so. That's my plan if it needs replacing, I think it is just 2 hex bolts holding it in the align assembly..

Replacement is on its way - will reach you Friday Apologies if we missed your first email but after searching your email we cant find anything from last week - I have a funny feeling this was due to our server move - we upgraded our dedicated server last Thursday/Friday to a more powerful system and other things which needed updated server software. we are all settled now though.

                  Thanks for replying.

Its not possible for yourselves or the manufacturer to check every product. Though i wish someone would check my stuff as i have terrible luck . So the problem with the starter is not your fault.

Like i said in our emails today i am very happy with your response and the outcome.

I had good service when i placed the order and now you have backed it up with this return.

                  I will definitely be back

There are a lot of shops and businesses that will readily take your money but run when there's a problem. Its how the problems are handled that's when you know that you have got good service.

I was miffed when i posted and now i'm not. This is due to not having to argue, prove or threaten the shop. I was treated with respect not suspicion.

I am pleased with the outcome once i made contact.

Yeah that's what I am going to do. The slightly annoying thing is that the wand is held on by two screws that go all the way through. I stuck another wand on there that just has a flat spot and if the Align fitting bit wasn't split like that it would be fine but I think I really should drill the holes through the shaft so it holds without stressing the base fitting. So I'll need to do that with a drill press at a friend's workshop as I don't have the facility to do it at home at the moment.

                            Hi folks,
I've had issues with my align starter also. The start shaft has rounded and now sticks in a brand new heli starter cup and also mine really struggles with the 90's, it will turn them for about a second, but then stops. The engines are well run in. Ive had to borrow fellow club members dynatron set ups for the last 3 weekends.
I think the starter looks great, however it's not the starter of choice for me and I would not recommend it to anyone. I'm sure I must have got a dud as well, as most other reports seem positive, however I think that even if the starter was powerful enough to turn the 90's, it seems to turn slightly to slow and the vibes it puts through your hand would still put me off.
I have now ordered a dynatron. I have contacted the shop I purchased it from and don't anticipate any issue's returning it.

Just my experience with it and my opinions

                            Richard
