Just wondered if anyone has ever flown one? and if anyone knows what speed controller originally came with it? I have managed to get my hands on an early model which has never flown but it doesnt have the speed controller, the motor is a Le Mans AP36.

    Hi

    I had one.

They looked good but were not meant to fly .

    Originally they used nicad packs.

I managed a few erm... flights on windy days.

I might have some blades (new in packet) and links for free if you are interested.

You will have to change to lipos to break ground effect.

    regards

I bought one when they first came out back in the 90s? Cost a stupid amount of money, as micro servo's and gyro were loadsamoney.

I don't remember it coming with an ESC, as I thought I bought one - just googled and found this which supports this - its possible there were different packages and some included ESC though ?

As asid says, it was never meant to fly - with Nicad pack it would just about fly circuits, and I did fly a loop once for a bet - but it didn't have enough power to pull out so it bumped the ground on the pull out and smashed half the head. I vaguely remember getting about 4 minute flights, and after the first minute it was a struggle to get out of ground effect.

I remember the foam blades as being especially poor - I got a set of Kalt Baron Whisper wooden blades, but was scared to fly them as they were SO much heavier than the Kyosho blades, I didn't think the head would hold together !

I ended up selling it on within a few weeks for a little over half what I paid - and considered that a pretty good result ;-)

Still, live and learn eh !

Thanks Asid the blades and links would be very helpful, I think the original speed controller sat on top of the motor by what I can gather. I you let me know what you have and what the postage would cost we could sort something out? It does look incredibly fragile for the size of the motor, cant seem to find any information on the speed controller but maybe i could get it running on a lipo? think they ran on 7.2v ni-cd packs similar to rc cars?

Concept EP ran on 8.4v 7 cell nicad sticks (Cars run on 6 cell 7.2v sticks), so a 2S lipo would be a huge jump in performance and weight reduction - but if your after the vintage thing, then you should keep it real ;-)

                Compare with a Trex250 its really a dinosaur !
