Robbe Starter Shaft on a Dynatron……

My current K&S starter shaft is kaput, so I’m just about to order a Robbe Starter Shaft ~ just before I do, has anyone experienced any issues when fitting to a Dynatron..?

I ask because there’s a vague thread on RR that seems to indicate the locking grub screw in the Robbe Shaft is high on the base of the unit, as such the grub screw locks down on the dynatron shaft threads rather than the smooth part of the shaft ~ If true, I’m a little worried because I chopped ¼” of the dynatron shaft to fit the K&S shaft.

Any experiences or insight to how well it fits..?

I don't know of any issues - but might be worthwhile just picking up the phone to the store first - they will give you any views/hints etc.

I have a sullivan starter shaft for mine - works a treat.

I use this combo but with a rubber cup in the starter into which I simply push the robbe wand.

No issues, ever.

The very inside bore is too small to fit the threads on the Dynatron. I drilled mine out slightly to clear the threads then put a flat spot on the shank of the Dynatron shaft to tighten the grub screw onto.

I sheared the threaded end of the Dynatron shaft trying to get the alloy cup off. LOL so my robbe wand fitted straight on.

Looks like the fact my dynatron shaft has already had ¼” of thread cut off will work to my advantage here….!

Final question ~ any issue with the Robbe wand slipping on the dynatron shaft? That sole grub screw has a lot of hard work to do.

Hi Lee, I filed a small flat on the shaft for the grub screw to locate in and a drop of blue locktite. Not moved in 7 years

I am about to order a sullivan dynatron starter.

Now I read, that the robbe starter extension (s1387) is one of the best out there.

Question.

what do I have to do to mount this shaft onto the dynatron. (dont want to use the cup and rubber...). I would like to fix it permanently onto the dynatron.


Can I just screw it on? Do I need to modify anything? drill a hole in the shaft or so?

I have a Robbe stater wand which is 9 years old and still going strong.

I recommended them to a mate down the field who had two brand new ones which did not work and had to be returned and he now runs the sullivan. Apparently they have changed the design very slightly from the original.
