  • DX7 battery replacement

    Hi All,

I think the battery is going on DX7(losing it charge quickly..starts at 11.8 after 15 mins down to 10.5 after a full charge),

    Its a Ni-mh aa 1500 mah 9.6 v.

What the best option to replace it .

Can it be replaced with a lipo???

    Or a greater Mah??

Please let me know what you all are using and thoughts please??

Sounds about right, how long does it take to go to 9v?

    How are you charging it?

          Many use lipos with the dx7. 3s 11v 2500mah

          however horizon won't warranty this.

I get about 8 flights untill it gets to 10.2 volts so I us it for about 2 days then charge on a jr 60mah charger overnight. when you change to a lipo do you need to change the cut off voltage alarm? like you could on the old jr x347 in the service mode.
Like after changing the back up battery.

You can change the voltage alarm inthe secret menu if needed on the DX7.

So its not meant to stay at that 11.v value for a while and then lower???

sacko its takes about probably 15 mins on and off but im not using the transmitter the whole time power on it would be intermittant between batteries.

The alarm goes off at 9v, i normally charge mine when it gets to 9.2v

It takes 15 mins from charged to the voltage alarm going off?

After two years of regular use I have just changed mine for another standard Spektrum battery. I opted for the original battery as they last ages between charging.
Before I changed it I cycled mine a few times and this gave it a bit more life.

                      I changed mine for...

Sanyo Eneloop 2000 9.6v AA Nimh Lead Config 23 : 9.6v Transmitter Pack : Batteries from Overlander Batteries

Although the capacity seems lower than some other packs the Eneloop packs dont loose charge just by sitting there.....After a charge this pack seems to last forever!!

I changed mine to a Sanyo 2700 MaH battery supplyed by Overlander batterys. I think i paid £25 for it.

Dont use Lipo's as they are to higher voltage. I have heard of people saying that the back of the Tx gets hot in use! Not good!

2700 MaH battery takes aprox 16 hours to charge on a standard wall charger.

                          Hi

second vote for the new Eneloop cells, they don't self discharge so work bloody well.

                          Cheers

Another vote for the Sanyo Eneloop. If my DSX9 batteries needed replacing, these are the ones I would currently go with.
