where do i stand with missing package

hi all,
following on from my thread a few days ago about postal stikes , i ordered a bag and a few small bits and bobs from fastlads on the 12th but its still not turned up. im not in any way having a go about fastlads but im unsure where i stand.when my mum spoke to them on tuesday(iv been busy on a course so havent had time to ring myself) they said wait till friday and call us back if still no sign. now we have these 2day stikes i very much doubt ill see it this week but i fear its lost.i dont want to ring and find out that theres nothing fastlads and do and lost and £90 order. i paid for standard postage but this was around £8 probally due to the size of the bag.

It depends how it was sent - 1st class post is at your risk. Anything else the responsibility of Fast Lad. At the end of the day, the postal stike affects them just as much as anyone else, so its just one of those bloody things.

Interestingly, national postal services in most countries is considered an essensial service and therefore they cannot strike - and by the same token if there is a war and conscription, the postal workers are exempt, sounds like the royal mail have it both ways!

Unlucky mate - I think you're going to have to ride it out - just bad timing. I expect they would have sent it recorded delivery at £90.00? . I have ordered heli stuff and basically not expecting to see it any time soon.

Be patient matey and everything will work out.

i would wait until tuesday and then call f/lads they are usualy very good at dealing with things ,the last order i had from them took 4days and that was 1st class recorded
and yet i orderder some stuff from brc and it came the next day and that was standard post.

Please wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery)as we would not consider an item as lost until 15 working days have elapsed. We allow the 15 working days for items to be returned to the sender

Very sticky situation because

1: you only paid standard postage

2: the post is in a real mess at the moment

3: I absolutely sure you are dealing with 100% honest dealers that will help you all they can.

If it helps you are not the only one who has been affected by the postal problems, There are hundreds including me.

Rest assured they will have sent it and will also do their very best to help sort it out.

Post has been poor recently, I am not dispatching any of my ebay sales until next week from tomorrow - no point adding to the stock piles as lost items cost me at the end of the day...

I would hang on as I am sure your item from FL will be en route but if after 15 days you still dont have it then talk to FL as I am sure they will help resolve the issue.

My local PO are very helpful, my postie takes stuff around to the PO for free if I am not in to sign for anything (normally a chargeable extra) and waits for us if he gets to us at school run times - now thats service

Guess its just luck of the draw TBH. As for the strikes, as I have said before I think its self harm at its best... nothing like biting the hand that feeds you - muppets!

That isn't a chargeable extra where I come from. Thats part of the normal service.

I know this will not be popular with the vendors, but the DSR are very clear on this point, if the goods are not delivered to you then you get a refund or the goods have to be sent out again.

Which postage rate you elected to use is irrelevant as the retailer is not allowed to pass on their risk in the delivery to you.

If they are lost in transit then it is the retailers problem, not yours.

So what does this say about all the other shipping options "they" all seem to offer ? just another money making scheme ? I do understand the higher shipping to get stuff guaranteed next day but not the stuff like "you are responsible if items go missing" or something like that.

I always chose the cheapest but thought i was taking a risk but now i know i'm covered thats just great.

Thats why if an item goes missing unless you can prove delivery Paypal / Credit Card will find in favour of the purchaser. Of course this isnt a risk for the payment company as they pass the cost back to the seller. I think it works that way anyway.

I ordered some parts from FL and they didnt turn up so i called them and they looked into it and emailed me with the tracking number and to give a couple more days, but nothing turned up,
I kept them posted every day and they sent me out all the bits again, but to this date with the tracking number they gave me for the first stuff still shows not delivered.

I give top marks to FL for there service to me and its best keep in contact with them and if its recordered they should be willing to pass the tracking number over to you.

But give it chance due to this postie strike and dont panic just yet as FL wont let you down
