The problem with after run oil is its not easy to get it into the heli engine.

Some people use WD40 and they claim good results.

Remove glow plug, add a few drops of after run oil into the hole then turn over the engine

            Cheers,

Hi Rob but does this procedure disperse the oil in all the places such as rear front bearing?

yes, I have found my bearings well protected after a liberal dose of after run oil in the plug hole or down the carb, whichever suits I only use ARO when the heli is going to be laid up for a good few weeks though - some use it after every session...

Out of interest, what's the difference between after run oil and say 3-in-1? (other than cost?)

This is essential equipment, without it the hobby will not be enjoyable

I find a roll of Kitchen paper towel invaluable for cleaning down the heli after a session. I also keep a pack of small (100x2.5mm) tie wraps in the flight bag and a length of fuel tube for repair of split/holed lines at the field.

Not sure how 3 in 1 will react to being inside an engine over a period of time.

I use Model Technics after run oil.

Small length of fuel tube into the plug hole. Small syringe full of after run. Turn engine until I can feel the piston at the bottom of the power stroke. Squirt in the oil.

Tilt Heli away from exhaust to allow oil into sump. Turn over with starter and a rag over the plug hole.

                            Reinsert plug. Job done.

Takes longer to type it than do it

I cannot fly often so do it after every flying session at home allowing me to give the Heli a quick look over as well

My OS-50SX has dire warnings in the manual prohibiting putting afterrun oil down the carb, lest I destroy the O rings or somesuch. Which is a pain as getting the plug out is a hassle.

Do all engines have these warnings, or are they just scaremongering? I'm reluctant to knacker the carb yet, especially as I haven't managed to get it off the engine yet, making replacing it difficult!
