  • 2.3 g conversion

    Hi All,

Im wanting to know if anyone has ever and sucessfully converted an etrm heli,As in honey bee,Neon blaze V1,any walkera to a spectrum radio dx6i,dx7.

I really would like to know if anyone has and could do it.I have read it can be done but actually dont know anyone who has done it.

I must say i know that it easier to buy another heli and peole dont want to waste their time,

But i dont acutally own one of these just wanted to know if anyone has and suceeded with a conversion...More of a challenge than anything.(I want to out my mind at rest)

Please let us know your thoughts...

    i just realised i out 2.3 g instead of 2.4 what a dummy...

walkera 4#3 and 4G3. Not as simple as bolt it together and runs. Usually lots of messing around trying to find problem only to find other issues. On you tube Amp's done some great 4G3/spek's but alway on going work.
Soon as i find the pennys i would like to try 4G3. My go at 4#3b just about worked but not all the time and ended when i kicked across floor

Its lot of work but can be done. And will cost quite abit

I watched a video some time ago on honey bee conversion(you tube),

where the guy separted the gyro/reciever...wired in the spectrum reciever and it was done...it looked a 20 min job...

      what about a walkera 52??

I did it on an Esky Lama co-ax, similar idea. It's all in my blog:-

        Hope that's of some interest.

might be a good idea to follow a build thread. Few conversions take 20 Min's but depends on whats in heli i guess.
Helps if you can drive soldering iron. I've spent quite alot on errors/dead shorts or just don't work.

Did my Century mini pred in about 20 mins. A direct swap of the rx and check the tx settings and she flew straight away. Easy peasy.

However, if your artf model uses a weird radio setup or a combined rx and gyro or rx and esc then it's gonna be harder to do.

I was going to do this with my 4#3B but it means fitting a new receiver, gyro, speed controlers (tail and main) and some voltage regulation.
Buying all this stuff came out to be pretty expensive and you end up adding quite a bit of weight as well.

Although im not a fan of the walkera transmitter I didnt think it was worth spending the money or time.

Larger helicopters will be easyer as weight isnt such an issue and you will have more voltage to work with, single cell helis bring extra problems with the voltage needing stepping up so that receivers and gyros will work.

at some point i do 4G3 spectrum

                Esky HH £10
2x tower pro 6amp £6.78 each. Re flashed with Quax code
                Spectrum RX £30

First I'll do 2s using Turnigy 120mah cells. Same size as 240 but half the size. So 2 cell about same as 1s'ish. Not have to worry about voltage (fingers crossed )
Then i may go on to try 1S but if 2s works good stop there. 3mins very good flying is good enough. Cells are cheap and rapid charge so not a big deal to swap packs
