  • First loop....

Yesterday set the Trex 450 up for Idle 2 and headed for the park...Couple of slightly clumsy stall turns and on the third attempt thought, well while its there, and let it loop round.

Landed it pretty quick and took it home....So I can at least say it came back in one piece

Today took it out again....half a dozen loops in quick succession....you can guess what happened next....thought I'd try and hold it upside down...and for a few seconds I did...then it got away from me.

Well, what a tough little helicopter....considering I smacked into the ground from about 50ft, although I was fighting all the way down, I only slightly bent the boom, done the main shaft, stripped a couple of servo gears and bent the fly bar.

Did take my 500 up afterwards....but not for much more than a hover and a gentle fly around; I know when I'm pushing my luck

great feeling aint it, i done my 1st loop the other week with my 450 and then done my 1st loop with the my 600 on tuesday. the 600 was easier to loop too but was also alot more nerve wreaking because it costs alots more.
      Thanks

It it isn't it....yesterday was generally a disasterous day, and I hadn't tried Idle 2 before, so I thought even if I wrecked the model it wouldn't make the day any worse. Instead, Idle 2, apart from the sudden high speed plummet was easy and then a loop...brightened my day and nothing could spoil it :-)

          thats how i learnt inverted
started with loops and then just kept stopping at the top, the length of the stop just keeps getting longer
you can then also start messing with the size of the loops and eventually you get in down to flips
well down and keep it up, as you say the 450 is a pretty hardy thing for its size

Ahhhhhhhhh...good job. Like to hear about first loops and flips. Get back out there and attempt some more. Its just a crash...and the broken pieces can be replaced.

Rather than say crash, I think I prefer to say that the model flew outside my sphere of expertise.... :-)
