  • Anyone near Headcorn/Tenterden?

.... that could help out with tuning an engine?

I have an mate there with a Trex 600 that could do with a lesson in tuning an engine, I would and have helped but it's far too far away for me to nip over and can't bring myself to go near Nitro, plus I was always crap at tuning anyway (I learnt from Trev )

Good plan, cheers, will pass on the details, trouble is that when the weather is good he has to be at the airfield but I'm sure he can get an afternoon of.

I fly with the Maidstone club and we have a field near Headcorn. I don't always go out there, but if you drop me a line. we can make a plan.

Maidstone MFC have 3 sites and one is at Headcorn airfield. I've not flown there though as it's a bit of a trek to get to the patch which is adjacent to the main runway.
It's also where most of the more "established" members of the club fly (The ones who are still living in the age where flying helicopters involves some sort of black magic, so arriving there with one tends to earn you dark looks).

The other two fields are more accomodating. One is near Edgerton and is the best patch. It's also where many FW pilots go, but the field rep for it flies two Avros and is there nearly every Saturday. The other field is in Linton and is almost exclusively used by the heli members.

I will not be there this weekend as I'm going up to Alcester for the scale fly-in, but hope to be out the following w/end as I will be setting up a multi-blade head on my MD500.

I can supply you with contact details if you like.

Thanks Ant, this guy flys on the airfield and he takes his 4x4 down so walking not a problem (he's part of the parachute club so has the run of the place). I know what you mean about the people who fly there, I got a few years of dirty looks from them when I was jumping there.

I heard it can be a bit of a gamble with the skydivers. I believe they also use the alt runway for their approaches. All the MMFC members have to park their cars by the tower and walk to the patch. A couple of the heli guys went there on a Sunday and got a frosty reception. I've been invited to fly there as well ("Invited???" I'm a member of the club and fully entitled to fly there ). I have been tempted to go just to pi** the regulars off, but I tend to have better things to do. Of course if I went with my plank, it would be a different story.

I'm guessing you mate's not a member of MMFC otherwise he'd know about the other sites. Is he flying on 2.4 or 35Mhz? Just curious in case there are any interference problems.

You have to use common sense, when the aircraft is running in then land and wait for the jumpers - I must admit, the model planes used to really **** us off when I was working there as they'd fly when we had students in the air which was pretty stupid.

The club only tends to fly there on a Wednesday so you should be ok at other times, if you PM me an email address I'll pass it on, I've known this guy 20 years and he's a good bloke and could do with being introduced to a club - and yeas, he's on 2.4.
