I would guess somewhere near Birmingham, got to be close to central, and on a big (if busy) road.
        Lots of aeroplanes and helis.

Yea this was spoke about before and I think some said have them in different parts of the country to make it fair as most wont travel 100's of miles for it.

          Then it all went silent.

I would host one at my site in Pufleet just off the M25 at the QE2 bridge.

If you goto my website ignore the "where we fly" as for some reason its gone all ski whiff

Regional ones would certainly be good for alot of people. And really good fun, it looks there a pretty high contingency at most events going on we just dont have anywhere to focus on once there.

I remember talking to Stuart about this awhile back and he would like to do a big get together which I think would be amazing, if we could organize something central Birmingham area does spring to mind maybe even a little further north, to allow the strong scottish membertship a chance to get to it. but obviously not to far up to put the southerners off.
            All the best

I think it would be really good to have one big fly in but do it over a whole weekend with camping available so that people who are travelling long distances can come up on the friday night, have a few beers then we all go flying on sat and the same on sunday and come home sunday night. ***Don't know about anyone else but I don't mind travelling a long way as long as it is for a whole weekend. ***Somewhere reasonably central will be good eg around Birmingnam. ***I think having lots of small ones will not be good as many of us won't then get to meet, and places like wales where there are not many of us will be very small turnouts. One big one would be much better. *** Ps sorry about the text formatting

I'd prefer to fly in a field if its ok, I don't like the idea of doing manouvers dodging lorries lol

                  sorry couldn't resist

I had and have plans for this - but the association concept got in the way a little but equally good.

My view was to hold a massive evet in the UK but not just a RcHeliAddict meetup but a charmouth type event, demo pilots, stores a full on weekend of fun at some ex-raf airfield in the UK.

But also some daft things like - attempts at the HC inverted auto through the tent and onto a table or deck / drag racing / spot auto's comps - just a laugh but also scale stuff the amount of detail and time in these heli's is awesome.

Really make the most of it, but to do this takes time to properly organise / money to pay for all sorts.

This was why I contacted the BMFA in the first place and was the cataylist for startup the association.
                        Cheers
                        Stuart

Now that sounds good - in the mean time can we have a winter meet up at Midland Heli club? Doesn't need to be an "official event" - just for the club to sanction a fly in type event where non members can come and fly, and then we can all turn up!

I was thinking somwhere like Sheffield this is in the middle of the UK equal distance from south and north.

Big flyins are a challenge to bring about.
It's not impossible, but the thing that tends to leave the organisers in the lurch is when scores of people who said they would come, don't turn up.
Not from a flying point of view, but if the site and amenities (portaloo's, site hire etc.) have to be hired and each pilot has to pay a fee to go.
When the turnout is lower, there can be a shortfall in cash to pay for everything.

I hope we can get a big get together organised, but if it happens, I hope we can organise everyone paying in advance, so if people can't make it, everything is payed for so the organisers are not left to pickup any further cost (The recent RCMF flyin had these problems, with the cash shortfall, due to people not turning up on the day).

Don't want to put a downer on it, but if it goes wrong the first year, we wont see it again, and I think we would all like to see it become a regular event
