Might be worth emailing the smiths to see if they will demo fly etc etc or even think about a team comp Craig, might be interesting

ok from a different perspective.......In motor racing you can't win a championship in one race!!!!

Why not have a fair few competitions through out the year and the pilot with the highest average score or he/she who had won the most events would be ultimately crowned uk champion??? That would then sort out the weekend warriors from the dedicated pilots who want to compete and are naturally competitive.

I would look at the 3d champs as lets say winning at F1 in monaco but as said earlier it may be the 'one to win' but does not make you a true champion.

Think about it......you know it makes sense.

Just want to add my opinion (cos I can)...

From a competitors point of view I found 1 competition per year was about comfortable. More than that meant I had no time for fun because it would be constant practise all year round which became very stressful at times. It effectively made the hobby into a business to impress your sponsors and left no room for fun.

A 'clubman' level competition is desperately needed to bridge the gap from club flier to competition flier because that gap is rather large at the moment making it somewhat impossible for some to ever get to competition standard.

I used to base my opinion on 'the best pilot' on the masters results but the 3D Championship does that for me now that Jeff has abandoned us. It is a very well organised event and with all proceeds going to charity, one I don't mind investing in.

In conclusion I wish you luck but I think your target market will be your biggest issue as for most pilots the 3D Championship is a well established event to which all others fall below.

                          changes..3DX

the uk 3d smackdown will be a 3DX event.there are several reasons for this but i think its best for UK 3d pilots and will bring uk competition inline with europe and the world, by using a known format that is excepted world wide.there is alot of other countries using 3dx next year too.
i will keep you updated as we go along
also LANCE DVD contacted me and we have arranged coverage of the event over the weekend etcfantastic news i think
                          keep a check on blackcountrymodels.com and www.fly3dx.com
                          regards craig simmons
