Posted this in a couple of places, but just in case it will save someone some grief:
Hi
If you have an Eagle Tree V2 data logger, you might want to consider leaving the firmware and PC software at whatever version it's on now. Let me explain why.
I had a perfectly serviceable V2 which I decided to upgrade to the latest V2 firmware and software. Following the instructions (which are pretty simple), the firmware upgraded but then the software on the PC froze. When I restarted it, the USB light on the data logger would not and still will not light - the device has been left in a broken state.
I have since found other references in a couple of forums to this phenomenon, so it's by no means an isolated occurence.
What is disappointing is Eagle Tree's response - they think it reasonable that I should ship the device to them at my expense (both ways) and also pay a repair charge. Since this would cost more than price of a V3, this is merely a roundabout way of saying 'get lost'. Let me reiterate - this was a perfectly functional device before I applied their upgrade.
So, in conclusion, if it works - leave it alone!
Regards
John
