Actually I sympathise with both parties. Gates expectations possibly got the better of him in the excitement to purchase this particuliar heli..anyways he was offered a refund which is beyond the call of duty as anything used is pretty much sold as seen.

A motor lying for even a few days can have corrosion occuring depending on the fuel and enviroment its kept in.

You also have to remember E-Bay is an auction site and as such is geared to maximise the selling price. There is no way I would pay £700 for a used 50.

No one I've ever met uses £7.50 servos on a £700 heli.
LOL..MMM I do use £7.50 servos on some of my helis. I see no pioint unless you have money to burn sticking an expensive servo thats connected to a motor whether that be Mixture or Throttle. Your standard non digi servo will last a lot longer as digis hate vibration with a vengance.

Even CY used to re-cycle his dodgy tail servos and use them on the throttle till they were done.

I'm an engineer by trade and happen to know that stainless steel bearings will not corrode to that extent within 24 hours even if left in salt water.

If a buyer sets a reserve at £650.00 you cannot place bids below that amount.

As you dont have "money to burn" I still have the servo in question you are welcome to it, and the next time I see you flying an expensive heli we can fit it for you & test that statement.

Both valid points viewed, well explained warning to all members about buying second hand helis, time to close the thread before the slanging match begins?

I dont think it should matter how much a throttle servo is, i dont believe you even need some super dooper servo even colin mills explained this at one of his talks at 3DM when using gov.

I have a £9 servo on my heli and iv used it for 3 years and works spot on.

But from a sparten to a 611 thats good as the 611 costs more than a sparten.
You could sell the 611 and buy a new sparten and still have some money left to play with.

But its the same with buying cars, it could have a full mot and still be sold and found to have problems, but mot just states that the car was road worthy at the time of the text and when rob last flew his 600 it flew great and spot on so why would he think any different.

But i hope its all sorted and your happy having a good flying heli even with the offer of refunds on robs part.

But please guys dont put rob down he is a good guy and he did try his best to correct the errors

Steve, with respect, I haven't put Rob down, and from the outset I explained what he had offered to put things right.

And you decide not to take the refund therefore this thread is pointless IMO.

I'm going to close this thread before it degenerates into a list of people that use empty matchboxes and string instead of throttle servo's.

You're educated people out there and you've seen both sides.

                  Who goes? You decide!
