    3 gyros...

  • #2
I have 3 of those esky gyro's in my bits box waiting to be installed in a plank (rudder, aileron, elevator) to see what its like flying with some 'assistance' - purely experimental of course - should make prop hangs much simpler but if the gain is too high I suspect some wag which might be terminal we will see

was also considering getting some of the heading hold version for use with a camera mount...

I did something similar a few years back with a JP Twister Bell 47G contra. It became so stable that you could take off, put the tx down and walk over to it and shove it and it would just sit there. Good fun for a few mins but that's all.

It was far better on the steering of a little rc car I had which on a smooth floor would produce some awesome powerslides without spinning out.

Dedcalm, if you're putting them in a plank, start at zero gain and fly it. Then turn it up SLOWLY on each axis at a time and it'll be fine. You're right, the wag can be terminal on a plank.

Exactly what I planned to do Ideally would have used a dual rate gyro so I can switch on/off in flight as a get out clause but £7 ea. delivered I went for cheapness - its only for fun experimentation after all...

I am expecting any fast(ish) forward flight to end up with wag so will not be rushing in with the gain.

I too am confused. How would one hook up three gyros? And to what?
              Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

It wont work on a 120 degree CCPM heli but if you have a 90 degree control system then you can hook up an extra gyro onto aerilon and elevator to make it hold a "pefect" hands off hover. you just have to put the gyros in the correct orientation.

                Its like a budget helicommand.
