  • Night rope driver..

    Which one is everyone using?

Currently have 6 strings I need to power. At the moment I have one that can only be powered by the Rx (max 6v), and im not too keen on using a Y lead just incase something shorts/fails and takes my heli with it.

Looking at the Align driver it can only power 2 ropes

Dont use the Align driver they are rubbish.

Everybody I have seen with one has had the wires pull out of the box as its a terrible design. As its epoxied together you cant repair them (I have tried)

I cant suggest an alternative at the moment but I have ordered some string and a driver from ebay and I will post some info and pics when it arrives from HK.

How come you have so many strings? Your heli must look like Blackpool Illuminations

For those that even used night string, the hardcore just used glow sticks!

The align driver look ok, but was looking for one with 6 outputs if possible?

Well I know 3 different people with them and they have all had problems.

Be carefull that you dont bend the wires where the connect to the black box as they do break off easily.

              Paul.

The Align driver has just 2 sockets as you know but you can "plumb" two extra light strings into them if neede.

If you go this route make sure not to overload it by using two 1 metre strings and no longer.

Jeebus it will look like like Blackpool illuminations with all those you have bought..

Paul, I have at least 2 12v drivers you can have, may need to change the connectors but they're yours if you want them. I'll bring them Thursday night to the indoor flying club.

3 ropes on my Align driver and it seems okay. Its the strings themselves that are temprimental if anything. I know you can run 4 strings off the Align driver if thats any good. Seriously though... 6 strings??? What you need that many for Paul?

They are all quite short, so I have

                        1 for each skid,
                        2 for the canopy,
                        2 for the boom
