  • BMFA Accounts

This actually started in another thread that wandered way off topic, but I promised I would post my findings, so I think its appropriate to start a new thread......

I have contacted the Hon Treasurer about posting the BMFA accounts on the website. He has told me that he did actually ask for this to happen last year! However, at the time, the new website was only just getting up and running, and the "meetings" section wasn't working, so it didn't happen.

    It should do this year!

He also points out that his financial summary goes in the BMFA News every year after the AGM, so everyone gets a copy of the more digestible (for most of us) version anyway!

If anyone wants the full version, they can either visit Chacksfield House, attend the AGM, or ask their club secretary. In addition, hopefully this year they will get on the website! (Whether we will be able to find them is another matter, but the computer people are aware of the problems and have promised to sort them!)

If anyone has any specific questions, they can contact the Hon Treasurer at: treasurer@bmfa.org

And if any of you are STILL not satisfied, then I DESPAIR!

LOL, not heard that for a while

I am also an engineer (computer systems / virtualisation) but originally electronics. At uni we 'they' distiguished the electrical/electronic to mechanical chaps with the simple but apt 'electrically biased / mechanically bent' adage

Then you are probably familiar with the distinction between a technician and an engineer....

A technician knows WHERE to slap something to make it work. An engineer knows WHY you have to slap it there........!

BMFA's AGM is not due until November. If they really mean it then for a start they should immediately publish their last year's account in the website. Otherwise it will be another jam tomorrow.

Pete you have volunteered to take this responsibility - no body is holding a gun against your head, so please do not despair, chillout, have a rest or a glass of beer.

                  Cheers

I've told you where you can get them if you want them! Its probably a bit pointless trying to get last years up there now, when this years are due shortly! Especially when last years are readily available from other sources.....

The web-site navigation is still currently a mess! The accounts might well be there, but at present its like looking for a needle in a haystack! I've been assured that those in charge of the website are aware of the problems and trying to sort them out.

I know I volunteered for it a few years back, and as of the end of this year, I've UN-volunteered!

You all now need to find someone else to carry the flag for you, because between arguing the toss with the BMFA - with some successes, though not as many as I would have liked - and arguing the opposite side of the coin here, I've had enough!

For most of the last five years, I've been the lone helicopter voice in the wilderness within the BMFA. Now there is no-one at Council level. If all those of you who complain about the lack of action had got off your arses and gone along to your Area Committee meetings and said there what you've said here, things could have been so different. But you didn't, and now its too late!

I wish Stuart well with his enterprise. But I have a nasty feeling that two or three years down the line, he's going to make the same discovery that I have made - the helicopter fraternity is full of armchair critics, but is sadly lacking in do-ers!

We get the BMFA that we deserve!

                    Cheers,

                      Nice work Pete.

However, at twenty something quid a year, I really don't care what they do with "our" money. Really I don't...especially when you get insurance and a mag for that amount too.
