  • Do I need to up the head speed for heavier blades?

    Hi,

I've put heavier (KDS make) glass fibre blades on my Trex 450, and there is a noticable wobble at low speeds....I'm assuming I need to up the head speed slightly to compensate

    Thanks,
    Matthew

Sounds right. Low HS will usually make a heli nod unless it has soft damping.

Interesting you should say about the dampening...found an issue with the head in that I'd used the wrong washers which was allowing a small amount of movement....I suspect fixing that has hardened the dampening; its certainly more responsive and I guess more sensitive to the head speed being a little low.

Tosh is right. if the dampners are harderthen your headspeed will have to be higher for a steady hover, other factors like what sort of flying your doing what blades your using etc will effect the headspeed you wind up having
        All the best

Ok, thanks. I've uped the head speed by 4% on the lower and mid settings and reduced the mid pitch a little, which seems to have almost sorted it.
