Same fella that did you Jaco. But maybe Gareth's got it wrong then? But didnt you have to keep flying forward at all times? If that's the case then surely it cant be a Lazy 8 as I always thought a Lazy 8 was an 8 but with the tail towards you?

The 20s hover is the first part of the 'T'

          Hope these diagrams help.

First one is the hovering T

Second one is the lazy 8.

The lazy 8 is so called because it is not 2 full circles but ovals. And the tail should follow the direction of travel not tail in towards the pilot

From the BMFA heli 'A' pdf
Take off and fly slowly forward for approximately 5 metres, stop and hover for about five seconds. Turn 90 degrees either left or right and fly forward to perform two ‘lazy eights’, each at least 30 metres in length. Each time the helicopter passes in front of the pilot it must be sideways on to the pilot and throughout the manoeuvre the model must be flying forward, not sideways.

Lazy Eight is in controlled forward flight, but is not a Figure Eight (that comes in the B test)

Lazy eight (A test) is kinda squashed and pointed eight, bit like an infinity mathematical sign, where you cross over in the middle side on to yourself and do the turns on each side away from the flight line.

Figure eight (B test) is two round circles where you cross over in the middle tail-in and do the turns on each side in towards the flight line.

In both manoeuvres, the heli is flying forwards at all times, not side-slipping.

Thanks for the digrams guys! I'll probably find that easier than the oval because I'm far happier with the nose toward me than side on, but whether it's in the test or not it's still something I have to crack.

Back to the sim for a couple of hours before bed I reckon!!!
