  • Looking for a good club

Well I feel it's time to join a club, as much as I enjoy flying on my own I think i would enjoy the hobby more by watching, chatting and flying with others. So can anyone recommend me a good heli club, I live in Walton on Thames Surrey so has to be fairly close

    many thanks

I'd be interested in this too as I live not far away from there in Ashford (Surrey not Kent!).
Indoor options in the area would be good too as I only have an mCX currently and will probably move onto a Bl;ade CX2 next.

Check out Kempton Park - club is called Addlestone Model Flying Club and based at the race course, our web site has been down for ages, still not back...
I live in Ashford too Cyberman, and fly fixed wings too, down at Kempton, not sure on membership level, but theres never more than 5 at any time I've seen in my last 1.5yrs there! Ideal too, no public !

We're trying to get more heli fliers down to the Slough RC model club, not far from Heathrow, or Surrey. Although it's mostly a fixed wing membership everyone mucks in together and there's never any "them & us" attitudes.
There's a few of us who are strictly heli and a few F/Wingers who are building heli's, but more are joining every month so bit by bit we can take control!

If you are thinking of joining though, contact one of us first, they dont make joining easy for heli fliers and I found it helped i when I mentioned names while applying.

I did see the addlestone club mentioned somewhere but assumed as the website always failed it had folded/closed so its good to hear its still going.
What days and times do you meet at Kempton park?

Is that the Upton Court Park site if so are you still limited to evening flight times also nitro heli's can only be flown during daytime.

I don't know of any restrictions other than their flying hours.

You can fly Tuesdays & Thursdays til 8:00. Until 6:00 on Saturdays & 4:00 on Sundays. But I dont often have the opportunity to fly outside those times anyway.

IMO it's not the best club in the world by a long chalk, there's no facilities there and they dont bend over backwards to attract new members, but there's a few heliaddicts in the area so it's easy for us to get to, the general members are very friendly, and the actual flying feild is very well positioned in terms of sunlight, visability, & space.

Talking about Kempton park, I work with a chap who flies there and he said that there is a long waiting list to join, not sure if thats true now but it was back in May/june. Through an email address given to me I tried to join but have never heard back, I also tried the one on their website but again never heard anything back from that either.

Not a real issue for me as I am joining up with Slough MC as I work just up road from the field.
