Tiddler sad to hear that. How long have you had your MSR? I thought you only recieved it this week. If the motor only lasts that long then that is extremely poor.

What are the options of upgrading the motors to brushless outrunners? Or something similar that is more durable?

If this is a common problem there will be an aftermarket upgrade avalable pretty quickly.

Its often a good diea to leave buying a new heli untill others have found the problems and fixes have been found.

Im glad I did this with the 4#3B and I will leave the MCR for a couple of months and by then most of the faults will have been found and fixed.

I did and your right it is poor, but I'm hoping that this isn't a common problem and that I was just unlucky with this one.
Having said that, I did give it quite a hammering, with loads of back to back flights and quite possibly overheated the motor. Ooops and quite honestly its such a brilliant little heli Im willing to forgive it a few teething problems.

IMO you didn't fly to much! You have a charger that charges more than one pack. So flying back to back not out of order (unless they say XXtime between flights)

One thing I have noticed is that since I have replaced the motor, I am getting significantly longer flight times, which does seem to suggest the original motor was in some way faulty Id have thought.

Does that make sense?
