trouble is that some people think there flying skills are waaaaay to good for a Raptor.. does make you laugh.. only people laughing are the marketing people at Align & Outrage etc.... (oh and I am as guilty of this as anyone else!!)

Raptors could outfly 99% of the people on here hands down.

Heres an old and good video of Mr Szabo, been seen a million times but how many fliers on here can replicate it even with there supposedly unbeatable modern stuff.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=463GFdeAWog]YouTube - Helicoptero radiocontrol increible " Sunday at the lake "[/ame]

Some obviously dont realise its all marketing bullshit, all these helis are just as capable in the right hands.

It all comes down to money, companies sponsor pilots so they can walk around with their t shirts on emblazoned with the company name, fly the model and the crowd go Oooh lets go and buy one now,the pilots accept the sponsorship because they get freebies,it all comes down to marketing and money. Not that there is anything wrong with this, thats what makes the world go round but you must not lose sight of it.

Jetschin didnt leave Mikado for Avant because he fancies one of the ladies who work there,he did it because they had a bigger wad of money in their hands than Mikado could or would offer as one example.

Surprisingly have you noticed every time a company brings a new model out its always slightly better than the last or just a bit better than the competition. How white are your whites after washing them? Well they are white,,,but yes our new soap powder gets them even whiter!!!

I think I actually prefer watching Szabo flying the Rappy compared to some of the more recent models - reason being that all the manouvers are not at 1000mph so you can see the model clearly and appreciate what the model is actually doing.

As has been said the Raptor is more than capable of 3D, the difference is that it does not have the same speed of manouvers. Certainly my Rappy 50 with +11 -10 pitch range running similar head speed to a 600 does not have the same 'punch' or rate of roll etc. and its not down to cyclic / collective servo's as I am running 9252's. Also piroette rate is slower on a raptor - the speed some 600's at our field are capable of is mind boggling (food blender fast )... certainly pushes the gyro to its limits to stop the tail accurately.

I completely agree, with most 'modern' 3D stuff the heli's is a blurr and the camera rarely keeps up with all the action, unless it's zoomed right out and then it's just a blurred dot in the sky with a smoke trail.

It might be different live but for watching video, a Raptor gives you a much clearer view of the moves as you can actually see them with it just being that bit slower in the air..

                          2p

PS if I could fly my raptor to 10% of that level I would be well chuffed.

Relax, you'll love it, it'll be easier than flying the blade, and if it looks too big & scary then just fly it farther away!!!

The other thing to remember is blades choice makes a hell of a difference in flight performance and the blades all fit Rappies.

The only thing i have noticed with a CCPM machine over a Raptor is the slightly better collective punch due to 3 servos driving the collective together as opposed to one.

Also the Raptor head could be better although i think it has been improved on the newer models but have not flown one.

If you stick an aftermarket head on a Raptor which i have done,it transforms the flight characteristics.

So forget the airframe itself, the business end is the blades, heads ability to give good collective and cyclic pitch range and the tail assemblies pitch range.

The electronics fitted could apply to any model with equally good results.

I was once told by an older and much wiser flier that look thru the bling and crap, from a mechanical point of view you want rigidity in the airframe,a good head and tail and let your fingers do the talking.
