  • LED Lighting control?

    Guys,

Is it possible to switch on an LED via a servo channel? I'd like to put a super-bright (but low power consumption at 6v) LED in the tail pipe of my EDF Jet as a sort of "glow" or "afterburner" effect when high throttle settings are used.

Any ideas how this can be done without excessive expense?

Of course its easy..... Pic12F675.... and an LED.... little bit of software to measure the pulse width and turn on a LED if above a preset level....

I have just finished one that has six diferent outputs depending on the position of the chanel programed by two switches on a 14Mz.... a simpler one is called an LMA.... (lost model alarm) drive it from the throttle channel and fit an led instead of a beeper....

pic1267...what! You can tell my degree was in mechanical engineering!

Like the idea of the LMA though!

                      12F675 based Lost Model Alarm

                      Activation under command
The LMA can be configured to monitor a receiver channel and to activate the alarm if the servo position on the channel is above, or below, a particular setting. In order to activate the alarm the servo must be in the position for at least 250ms.
This facility is useful for users with a spare channel, or a channel that is not normally set beyond a particular point. The purpose is that when a model is lost, but still probably within range, the LMA can be triggered without either waiting for the time based activation or loss of signal activation. This stops servos etc. from flapping around when there is no receiver signal and possibly damaging the aircraft more, or using valuable battery power.
The command activation point may be either preset in the software or configured into the LMA during operation and is easy to alter at any time.

You can get solid state switches that plug into the rx. Here is an example.
