  • Piro Flips

Been trying these out on phoenix but can't get my head around them at all. Tried watching the training video of it and slowing it down but still can't grasp when and where to start stirring the cyclics when piroing.

    Anyone got any tips?

I like to push the cyclic stick forward while just poping in a little pitch then bringing the stick around to the right while adding left rudder. takes a little time to get the timing right, but once you do you can start playing with different speeds on each input like the rudder to really whip the tail around.
    All the best

      Cheers Tony.

So let me get this right. When starting, tail in you go forward on elevator and then stir in a right hand circle and then left on rudder

yup, the first part is so you end up with the heli tail in inverted. then you can do the second part to bring it back to its origional position. but get the first bit right first. will make it easier.
        All the best

Just trying it now. Managed to get it inverted although very messy. Better than what I was doing before though.

I just cant get my head round what the heli is supposed to do during a piro flip or chaos let alone the mechanics of stirring the sticks.
whenever i've manged something like this i always think wow but then ask myself HOW lol.

Well I say it helped. Could well have been more a fluke but at least I know which way the sticks should be going. I think it's one of those tricks where it just clicks and then off you go. Total head melter this one.

Well I am going to get this one nailed sooner or later. Lots of sim time on this I think.

                        Hi
How i lernt the piro stuff was,,
i split it into 3 parts.

                        first
practis hovering correct way up keeping the heli steady in a hover and piroing on the tail.

                        second
The exact same as the first but inverted, steady hover with the heli piroing while inverted.

                        third
while in a piro inverted try and flip the heli to the right way up or if you start off the right way up flip it to inverted.

These 3 parts are what makes up piro flips so practis it in the 3 stages.
Keep the tail to a slow`ish speed so as you have time to see what the heli is doing and enter the correct command.

It is a slow prosess and one that will only be masterd with quite a bit of time and practis.
I also do the same as said earlyer.
Both sticks a punch forward then pull both to the outside of the TX (rudder left cyclick to the right) cyclick is moved in an clockwise rotation when rudder is left.

Anthother thing that also helps is.
put the heli up high tip it on its side, slowley piro while its falling try and pull out of the piro while its falling this is simulateing pulling the heli out of the flip over between the upright and inverted while piroing.

These are doing my head in also and i am practising the method already suggested by Tony to get from upright to inverted but cant catch it properly and level it.

I am piroing left rudder and then when the right way up tail in i start the front flip to hopefully end up inverted and level but the way i am trying to get back to upright is when the nose is facing me inverted i am again pushing slight forward elevator and stirring the stick right along with a slight negative pitch punch to get out but this means i am stirring to the right only on cyclic on both occasions but i am sure i see people going right round the cyclic stick.

When you do the stir to the right, how far round do you go?

I realise at the end of the day its something that needs to click in your Brain.I feel i am getting there but its just not happening yet..

somthing i forgot to mention allways try and start the the flip from the same position eg boom faceing you.
                              Chris
I find i pull alot of cyclick in at first to get the flip going then the circle becomes much smaller on the cyclic once its in.
As a rough guide the cyclic circle should be rotateing about the same speed as the tail is rotateing in the piro.
I am still no master at this but its starting to come togther now.
                              PS
yeah its a full circle on the cyclick to keep it going
